HOTEL REVIEW - August 2025
Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel, Niagara Falls, Canada
This hotel, located on Lundy Lane, is 1.5 miles from the falls. It is designed and catered towards families. It has a courtyard pool with a tropical feel with multiple trees and shrubs, many TVs, chairs, loungers, and tables. There is a decent size pool, and 2 hot tubs. One of the hot tubs was not working. We could never get into the hot tub that was working as it was always full of kids and adults alike. There is an arcade, and a kid's play area around the pool area. The hotel has a golf lounge and bar for your entertainment. The pool was not as warm as advertised. And the hot tub was lukewarm at best. The hotel has an Irish Pub, Doc Mcgilligans, and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Food is pretty good. There is no complimentary breakfast included. However, when choosing a room, you can choose a package deal that includes breakfast. Lack of complimentary breakfast turned out to be a disappointment for me. I enjoy my morning coffee, orange juice, yogurt or muffin, and fruits that are included with other hotel chains.
The pool area floors and general floors leading to the rooms, were showing the age of this hotel. Parking was limited, and you may find yourself without a spot if the hotel is full or busy. There is a charge of $20 Canadian for parking, but is included in your package or daily room rate. Our room was very basic, no frills. 2 double beds, a TV, a bureau for storage, a phone, a mini fridge and a Nespresso machine, which my fiancé thoroughly enjoyed. The bathroom ran on the small side with a toilet and bathtub/shower combo. The sink was on the outside of the bathroom with the beds, in front of the closet. No safe, which was disappointing. No microwave, also disappointing. There is one sole microwave for guest use in the courtyard/pool area. Wifi was hit or miss. More than not is was down.
The main reason I chose this hotel was because their website stated that there was a WEGO bus stop in front of the hotel. That was not the case. I planned to buy a 48-hour pass and hop on the bus right outside the hotel to get to the tourist spots. Parking is expensive in the Falls area. Flat fee was $36 per parking area. Front desk stated that the nearest WEGO bus stop was a 15-20 minute walk away. That is not doable for me. I would not walk back to any hotel at night, 20 minutes away. This was a big minus for this hotel.
Star Rating: 2.5
Would I return to this hotel? No
Would I recommend it? No
But if you want a hotel that caters to families and won't break the bank, and you like the amenities I just mentioned, then this hotel may work for you.

Read moreWe recently stayed at this hotel on August 14th... when we checked in we were checked in by the manager. He at the time was going over the fees and informed me that there is a 250$ deposit as a security deposit. I had asked the remaining balance and was told 119$ and change making the amount 369$ and change. I paid this and was not given any paperwork just the keys to my room and went on our way. Now the room was nice and the amenities at the hotel are amazing. The next morning we went to check out and the lady at the desk stated that there was a balance of 60$ owing... we were confused as we were told the total the day before and paid that amount. She went and got the gentleman that helped us and was also the manager he stated HE made a mistake and the amount left owning was that. I asked a few times how this happened and he kept saying "well in my screen" I stated as a customer I can't see the screen. He pretty much said to bad and my deposit was not 190. I asked for someone above him and a lady came out. She again kept telling me about her screen. I stated that in the world if an agent or well the manager says a price and its paid then that's it, if he made a mistake then why should I as the customer have to pay. I got fed up and left to call corporate head office. My wife stayed in almost in tears shaking and upset due to this and the lady and male manager (he just rolling his eyes and smirking at us and now my wife) telling we are out of luck "take the 190 or nothing at all". Corporate called the hotel and the male manager made up a lie stating that he lowered the deposit for us because of our rewards level (why would that matter at all). The corporate lady said she was going to raise it to a higher level and I would get a call back in 5 days. 8 days later and I had to call back. The lady said they would look into it more and for me to call back again. I said no it's been long enough. They called the hotel and stated that THEY made a mistake on the price and took the remaining amount from the DEPOSIT and would not be giving it back. THEY admit they made the mistake so why as a customer, a grain of sand in their beach of money, wouldn't be given the money back to please them. I wanted to come back with my kids and will NEVER come back there again, they stole from me and my family, and with the way head office acted I will never stay at a best western again. This was one of the hotel companies we stayed at, and never again.... they are thieves and...

Things we loved: customer service was excellent. All the staff were very kind and accommodating. If we had any questions they were always more than happy to help and even gifted us a free gaming card when the credit loading machine broke which was very nice. It was nice that they have a little arcade area, play climber and a pool/ hottub area making it convenient for kids and adults to have stuff to do on site. Our room was clean and the staff each day came in and freshened it up in the mornings while we were out to breakfast and provided us when fresh towels and made the beds which was pleasant. I liked that we could park and access our room very easily from the parking on the first floor, no lugging bags through hallways which was nice. The hotel felt safe as well despite the actual street Lundy's lane just up the way being a little sketchy 10 min up the way (we knew this going in that's Lundy's Lane for you though). They seem to be pretty transparent about the fees as well including parking which is good as some hotels are not. Our room had a coffee machine in it and hard flooring that was clean as well as a mini fridge and blow dryer. I also was worried it was going to be super loud considering there is lots of families at the hotel and I am a light sleeper but honestly, it wasnt bad at all. It's good that the play areas and pool close at 10pm so things quiet down for guests who want to sleep.
Only a couple small things I think could be improved. The pool was very cold and considering it's indoor so the air isn't hot, you're pretty cold while swimming and when we stayed one of the hot tubs was out if service so some adults were crowding it but that's not really the hotel's fault.
Over all we had a fantastic stay. I would stay again and recommend to other family's that want a hotel that has stuff to do for their little ones so that they don't have to spend the entire trip out spending money they can save a little and enjoy the wonderful accommodations the hotel has for kids and families as well. Again, the customer service was fantastic probably the best I have actually recieved at a hotel so thank you to the staff for...
