Late May is a bit too early to visit Percé we discovered. Many attractions, the National Park, dining and shops in Gaspé and Percé seem to open after June 1.||The hotel and rooms exceeded expectations. We booked a mountain view [knowing the Rock could be viewed from the lawns] and were given an ocean view. Watching the sunrise behind Percé Rock was a highlight of our Gaspesie road trip. Accommodation was recently renovated and immaculate with quality furnishings befitting the price.||Before travelling, we researched the best places to dine and the Riotel dining room was highly rated [not that it mattered since nothing else was open when we were there]. It was a disappointment. The cuisine was mediocre; of a quality we might whip-up in a hurry at home with ingredients from the freezer. The service and attitude of the staff was more consistent with a truck-stop diner. Fine dining this was not. Splendid view though. If you travel in-season we recommend eating elsewhere if available.||Hotel staff showed no interest in welcoming guests or making their patronage feel valued even though the hotel was sparsely booked. They did only the bare minimum. Public areas were nicely decorated showing local art BUT with a price-tag and the artists' contact information. As a professional-artist couple, this is very off-putting; knowing the establishment is ripping-off using the artists. Generally, we avoid cafés, restaurants etc. where the decor is advertised for sale.||Not to say we didn't enjoy our stay in Percé but Riotel needs to work harder if it wants to move from good...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I spent 2 nights at the Riotel Perce. This is a beautiful hotel with a great location on the highway to Gaspe.
The best part of the hotel is the amazing view that some of the rooms have of the famous Perce rock. We stayed in the room on the second floor with an incredible view of the rock and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy but it would have been great to sit on the balcony and take in the beautiful scenery! Thankfully the room was comfortable enough for that.
As for the room, it was huge and a great size for two people. Our room had two comfortable double beds, a small sitting area, and a desk. The bathroom was clean, spacious, and well equipped.
We didn't spend much time in the room but overall I found it to be comfortable and cozy. The View was amazing and I loved leaving the curtains open just to admire the view!
The wifi worked great and parking was easily accessible.
At the hotel there are a ton of amenities like a restaurant, hot tub, fire pit, and access to a large Beach. The location of the hotel is great with tons of small restaurants, shops, and a grocery store nearby.
I definitely recommend staying at the Riotel Perce if you're planning a trip to Gaspe and looking for somewhere to stay nearby. It's especially a great place to stay for whale watching and if the Perce Rock is the highlight...
Read moreThe view was great and literally thats it - the hotel itself and service was HORRIBLE and I reccomend everyone to stay anywhere else. Firstly, we came to find their bar, restaurant, and jacuzzi closed. These were all listed as part of the accomadations and part of the high price of staying here. We spoke to the manager who was EXTREMELY rude. He acted as if all their accomadations being closed was no big deal and told us "no one else is complaining". The room was very bad and not the type of room you'd expect to get paying this much money. There were hairs in the washroom which I also attached a photo of. No wifi password provided anywhere either. Lastly, the campfire you see in the photo facing the water was none existent during our stay. I guess no employee bothered to come set it up but I am not surprised with this awful manager guy they have at this hotel clearly nothing gets done. This is a 2 star motel put at a premium price - a tourist trap. Very disappointing since we actually just stayed at a different riotel somewhere else which was very good. Just avoid this place and stay anywhere else in perce.
REPLY: The rain and poor weather stopped at around 7:30 PM and the weather was absoloutly great the rest of the night. The campfire not being lit was not because of bad weather but poor...
