This will be a mixed review to be completely honest.
We had made a reservation earlier in the week, and arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation time of 5:00, and had requested a highchair for our child upon reservation booking.
We had watched multiple people be shown to the outdoor patio and offered a drink menu. When we talked to the hostess station, we were told we had to wait outside until our appropriate reservation time. When we asked if we could sit on the patio, eyes were rolled and said "I guess, but you won't be getting a drink". We had to walk outside the restaurant to the patio alone, instead of being show to the patio by the hostess. Everyone on the patio was being served except for us, and honestly if we hadn't been so hungry, we would have left due to the rude attitude upon arrival. There was a senior couple who had an identical experience as we did who as well were told to wait outside the entrance until their reservation time. When our name was called, we were begrudgingly shown to our table, no conversation was made between staff and us. When we got to the table they had 3 chairs, and unfortunately our 1.5 year old can't sit in a chair yet because she couldn't see over the table. When we mentioned that we had requested a highchair with our reservation, eyes were rolled again, and one was eventually brought over.
Our waitress Gabrielle (I can't quite remember if that was her name or not) was wonderful. She recommended a mocktail for myself which was delicious, basil something or other, as well as a drink for my husband which was a Moscow mule, which he loved.
Our appetizer came out in reasonable time, pork belly and scallop, delicious! Entre, well we waited and waited and waited for that. Once it came out my steak was so overcooked (ordered medium, came out well done), and again, I was so hungry I wasn't sending it back. When I mentioned it to the waitress it was offered to send it back, which I declined and ate it anyway. My husband had a seafood filled plate which he loved. Our daughter devoured the pizza off the children's menu. For dessert we had a cheesecake, and a chocolate cake. By far the best cheesecake I've ever had, fall flavoured crust with the cinnamon knocked it out of the park. My dessert ended up being comped which was generous.
Overall the atmosphere was nice, food was great (minus the steak), great portions, and drinks were delicious. If it hadn't been for Gabrielle, I know our night would have been ruined, so thank you Gabrielle for your...
Read moreLocation: In the heart of Percé - right by the boardwalk. If you're staying in the area then odds are you're within walking distance.
The place: It's quite spacious with ample seating indoors and a large veranda/terrace. The vibe is cozy and casual.
The goods: I started with the most delicious cocktail (L'or Percéene) and went with the pan-seared scallops, whisky, raisins and walnuts, served with lobster risotto and vegetables. It was delicious - the scallops were seared to perfection and the dish was flavourful on all fronts. My mom had the fish of the day (rainbow trout) and loved it. We enjoyed dinner so much that we went back the next evening. Obviously, I couldn't pass up the cocktail, but this time, I decided to try the lobster meat with maple svrup and seaweed, served with risotto and vegetables. The dish was excellent. My mom, on the other hand, was less impressed with the seafood au gratin, which largely consisted of mashed potatoes vs seafood. It was a bit of a disappointment. I also don't think the side salad should be an extra charge. We also tried the lime pie, and it was awesome.
Service: On our first night, it was excellent - very attentive wait staff. On the 2nd night, it was still pretty good, though things seemed to be more hectic,
Price point: On the spendy side, but absolutely worth...
Read moreAwful experience at this restaurant in the last part of our stay. Despite the good food, the service started out well and ended particularly badly. We waited 30 min+ between courses (we were 4 adults, we ordered a pizza, fish&chips, the lobster and the fletan); when we saw the 2nd course was not coming, we explained to the waiter we had a boat ride soon (we arrived 1.5h prior to it, so we had in theory plenty of time); the waiter kept coming to tell us we were « the next » table to be served, in what seemed to be taking forever. The restaurant was by no means full. When we started telling them we are late, a what I suspect to be a manager came and asked us if we were « promised » to be fast, because the lobster « was not a good idea », implying it was our fault to order such time consuming food. I think the “manager”, or whatever she was, wanted to preempt a complaint by somehow blaming us.
The waiter ended up muttering underneath his breath “belle attitude” when we were rushing to leave in order not to miss our boat, after I left a 15% tip in the desire not to punish him for the restaurant’s incompetence.
The food is really not as good as to compensate for such retrograde. Hence, I do not...
