I stayed here in the winter and I don't know if service lacked due to the fact it is not their busy season, or if this is just how they usually conduct business. Either way, it was not an acceptable way of managing a motel.
Check-in is at 2pm. We arrived promptly at 2pm and were met with a closed door with a sign stating, "Be back soon", followed by a telephone number for the motel. We stood there and called a few times but no one picked up. When tried the door and it opened, so we walked in. As we stepped in, the person managing the motel (not sure if she is the owner or the manager, or both) ran down the steps. We tried to check in and she said the rooms (none of them... in the middle of winter... despite only one single car being in the parking lot) were not ready. We asked how long it would take to clean our room and she said she didn't have lunch yet. She then asked if we could come back after dinner, sometime after 7pm or 8pm. It was 2pm! She said there is alot to do around town and we could come back after she had a chance to have her lunch and, from the way the conversation was going, dinner as well. We insisted on having our room sooner rather than later so she agreed for us to come back at 3pm, but still asked us to take our time and come back at 4 if possible.
We finally got into our rooms at 3:30pm and it was freezing cold. There was a small heater in the corner and we kept it on a high temperature for about 6 hours. It took that much time to finally get to a comfortable temperature.
I found two dead spiders, small evidence of mould in the already very small and enclosed bathroom, and inconsistent hot water. The bed was comfortable and they had alot of...
Read moreWe went to Southampton beach last Saturday planning to go home after the sunset mind you we live in Maple so it’s 2hours and 45minutes drive but around 5:30pm we suddenly decided to stay for a night we’ve tried looking for a place to sleep in for the night but most of the motel around the beach was already book and we don’t want to stay in Port Elgin but luckily when i called Manor Motel. Yen answer and told me they have still 1 room but it’s double I thought she’s saying the size of the bed but when we went to the motel it was 2 queen size bed which was ok. She’s a nice lady. She and her family live in the motel too so any problem they will be there to help. The room was clean and the bathroom is really small. It has fridge and microwave and tv with cable. It’s true it’s an old motel but me and my husband don’t care as long its clean and there’s no bedbug. We will just used the room to sleep anyways. The pool has no water and old but who needs a pool when the beach is two blocks away from the motel? There’s a cafe bistro across Tim horton is just 2 blocks away. Location is really good|Are we staying there again? Why not but i’ll make sure it’s only 1 queen...
