My wife and I had a great weekend getaway here right at the end of the off-season. Our room was on the second floor and quite large. It was extremely peaceful aside from very occasional air traffic. We had ample room to stretch our legs in front of the fireplace, which we did a lot of. The Beacon Inn is about as close to the middle of everything in Sidney as you can get with the waterfront less than five minutes on foot. There are restaurants of every description, large grocery stores and really quaint shopping areas all around you. The room has a large bed and huge bath room that includes a jetted tub and a large separate shower stall with a head high enough for even someone tall to stand comfortably under.
Ensuring our safety during Covid-19 was of supreme importance to the staff and they are incredibly attentive to your needs. They have also reduced the staff hours to minimize guest contact. This means that you will be responsible for checking yourself out, which may seem rude but is actually a very good way to again reduce contact and avoid possible transmission.
We were very well cared for on our tiny trip and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe place and a quick visit. Thanks again to the...

Started off quoting us one price (by way of phone conversation and printout) and receiving a higher rate when checking in.
It wasnt a huge difference but the fact that they didnt budge to keep the peace was disconcerting.
The place advertises breakfast included on a sign outside the premises. And, if you check pictures online, you are led to believe you will be receiving a decent substantial breakfast...NOT AT ALL!
You are given a tupperware with pathetic tidbits and/or cereal from bins found in the hallways!? Bizarre location for cereal.
I would say they are very misleading with their breakfast situation.
We were supposed to receive a 'standard' room which, according to Expedia, is supposed to include a fireplace...no fireplace in our room! We voiced our displeasure and they gave us a room with a fireplace for the second night.
The TV situation is absolutely rinky dinky...a TV the size of an old computer monitor balancing on top of a cable box which provides no premium channels.
The sink did not drain properly in the first room, some kind of black sandy residue found in the sink.
They provide these great large tubs in the bathroom but, of course, provide no soap bombs or bubble...
Read moreWe stayed two nights in the Beacon Inn mid week in August. The rooms are well equipped and clean however toilets are old and low flush. Surprising but there are no full time staff present in the hotel so when we needed a plunger we had to phone the offsite contact who then arranged for one to be delivered. After a wait, it was shocking when I said to the clerk âoh good youâre here to help thank youâ she replied, ânot yet, not until I clock in as I donât work for free.â The breakfast is all cold items you are to eat in your room, without proper tables. Apparently when covid hit, they instituted cereal and yogurt and never resumed a served hot breakfast in the shared common room. So breakfast is okay but for nearly $300 a night in an inn without amenities like a bar, gym, front desk staff, iâd think they could offer a better breakfast. Checkin hours are very limited since front desk staff are only there for very specific times. not sure if the service limitations are a cost saving measure or itâs hard to find staff but I was dismayed. The staff when present...
