This theatre gets one lonely star for me. I am an avid theatre goer and while the new extra comfy seats are a great asset , I feel that this is where this business model stops. The Sound in the theatre rooms is good..but not great..often too loud for the size of the rooms. My big issue is; if you're trying to be a luxury style movie theatre, offer more options for the concessions at modest price uptick should be expected. However when you serve below par popcorn at 6$ for a medium(really small) and your only food option is stale hot dogs at an even more outrageous price then the value added options just are not apparent. In a nutshell, the staffing levels have been cut in half, the food is overpriced and is beyond bad. The admission price does not align with the experience . Unfortunately my feeling is this theatre again is on its last legs. Increase the quality of your food offerings, price either admission or concessions appropriate for value and maybe you have a chance... As it stands, i get the sense that every transaction is an attempt to gouge the consumer to pay back investor debt... the consumer will catch on, they already have and will avoid the place...even with some of the comfiest seats in town. ....again, pricing does not represent the value of experience....as the experience is below par. Sorry folks...but i am still rooting for you as a business operator in this town it takes guts! just make those tweaks so i...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe last time I visited the āoldā Star Cinema was for a popular film so the theatre was quite full. Just as the movie was to start, a rather tall person sat down in front of me effectively blocking about half the screen and leaving me with two choicesā¦. either spend the next hour with my head tilted 45 degrees to the side or get up and try to find another seat from where I could watch without being blocked. The second choice meant I had to leave my wife but Iām too old and crotchety to wish to pay for the privilege of developing a ācrinkā in my neck.
So, then came the development and, with it, a new Star Cinema and ⦠WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT! Every seat has an unobstructed sight line to the screen; the films are digital; the sound is superb (to my ageing ears) and, of course the prices and staff are the same old āwonderfulā.
How fortunate we are to have such a splendid facility in our little town. Weāre not the only ones to feel this way as the crowds at the Saturday morning opera are testimony to the way others also agree.
Five stars for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNoted on their website, that tickets can be bought at the box office, I drove down to pre buy. The door sign said open at 12:30, so when my iphone said 12:30 I went in. They said they weren't open yet, and when I quoted that it was 12:30 they said, " No, its 12:28" I looked down at my iphone confused. At 12:35 they said, they could help me, only to tell me they don't pre sell tickets, but I am welcome to come half hour early to the show time to guarantee a seat. This was a complete waste of time, and I will not be driving down again, to waste a half hour just to be sure my group gets seats. Thankfully there are other theatres to be supported that offer better customer service, have pre sale tickets online, that don't request people to be there half an hour before hand and have a clock...
