Fabulous Free way to spend a Sunday afternoon. SIDNEY SUNDAY SUMMER SOUNDS , offered by Peninsula Celebration Society, this is an afternoon of listening yo the music of various small group bands in the bandshell in the park on the waterfront of Sidney. Each Sunday in August a different group performs music of 50's to present day. People often get up and dance - jive, twist, jitterbug, sway, sing ,simply move, and enjoy. The park is flooded with young, old, toddlers, babies, tweeners, parents, grandparents lovers, boatets, middle -agers... and everybody enjoys the freedom of the space and the music. Read moreIf you are already at Sydney, this is a nice stop and look around place. When the weather is nice, clear sky and sunny, you can see Mt. Baker (I think? based on the map) across the sea. Even if you can't see it, the walkway is still very nice. It takes between 30 mins and 1 hour to walk for a round trip if you start from the Beacon Park.
I visited here in Janaury and I noticed there were people gathered around at a random Viewpoint and realized they were looking at a seal (sleeping / relaxing) with her nose sticking out of the water. I am not sure if I was just lucky to see one but...
