My husband and I just returned from a two-week trip to Vancouver Island. The last four days we spent at the Sidney Waterfront Inn, and what a wonderful experience it was. We stayed in one of the Cannery rooms with a balcony that looked out onto a beautiful flowery cul-de-sac and then beyond to the park and a large expanse of water. We enjoyed people watching and the tranquility of looking at the water if we chose. One afternoon I sat on the balcony with a crossword puzzle and listened to two people with guitars who sat on one of the benches among the flowers, and who very softly sang songs that I knew. Our room was quite clean (very important to me), and the linens were very fresh. The room was a studio set-up with microwave, frig, sink, dishes and flatware. Nice because there is a grocery store right across the street, and we were able to have a few dinners on our balcony because of that. This is one of the few hotels that includes a continental breakfast, but I have to say it was a step up above continental, with mini-omelets and Egg McMuffin-type sandwiches. Parking was free and right onsite. We couldn't have asked for a nicer way to end our vacations. We stayed in similar type places in Victoria, Nanimo, Tofino, and Cowichen Bay, and we were pleased with those choices. This is our second two-week vacation to Vancouver Island because we like the hiking choices and the beautiful flowers and...
Read moreDecent hotel. You probably won't be disappointed. Just don't leave anything of value behind cause it'll probably just get THROWN OUT.
Case in point, my daughter left her cherished baby blanket in the bed and we didn't realize it until the following evening after having already checked out.
We called the hotel thinking they would probably have found it wrapped up in the sheets, in the wash maybeâit was a white blanket after all.
We got a call the next day saying housekeeping had found it in the garbage and they just assumed we didn't want it anymore so it got thrown out with the rest of the trash in the room.
First of all there is no way that blanket was in the garbage when we left the room. The garbage was already full with a small pizza box and take out food box. The blanket would have overfilled the small trash can and we threw out the food box right as we left the room. You don't think we wouldn't have noticed our daughter's blanket in the trash can?
Clearly housekeeping just didn't want to take the extra few minutes to put something aside for lost and found. Easier to just throw it all in the garbage, right?
Not a great experience.
And yes we take full responsibility for leaving our property at the hotel. We would just hope there'd be some human decency to not throw something out that would clearly have...
Read moreUnprofessional! Overpriced! It has a lot of potential, however the building is BEGGING for a cosmetic makeover! This building is old and dated and not in a charming way. The showers body wash and shampoo were near empty on arrival, the hairdryer was filthy, the floor panel heater was coming off and apparently the handyman went on a break and never came back to finish a task. I left disappointed with the place and felt a little ripped off. If the owners put a little money into their business, they could double their rates and not only have happy guests but also guests who leave feeling their money was well spent. The front desk staff was not very professional. I noticed them handling some situations very poorly and it left a bad impression on them. Not very classy. I witnessed a skinny boy who was behind the desk jump out of his chair and accost a nicely dressed gentlemen who forgot something in his room. It is unclear if the skinny boy with poor hygiene even worked at the hotel- he looked like he had just rolled out of a tent or something. Itâs unfortunate because the rest of the town was lovely and enjoyable. I would not return to this establishment nor would I recommend...
