If you are vegan, I would not trust this place. We were going there for years, ordering the same dishes, we always said vegan , every time. Then one order we discovered meat in our dish. They did not do anything for us. So I I know mistakes happen, so months later, I decided to give them another chance. Ordered the same dishes. This time, after eating a whole plate, discovered meat again in the dish. Immediately called them to tell them, and the owner asked me to bring it there. So I did, she took it in the back of the kitchen. Came back a few minutes later, and said yes , it was pork. I was in shock, again this happened. Then while trying to explain they were busy, and things happen, told me that the oil they use to fry our tofu in is the same oil they use for meat. WHAT!!! After how many times we have been going there, stressing vegan every time, she tells me this. She barely seemed sorry, and I was in shock. Didn't even offer to give back my money for the meal. It was awful. So for all the vegans or vegetarians out there, I just wouldn't go here. It was a...
Read moreI dined at this restaurant today and had a very terrible experience. At the time, we were the only Asian guests in the entire restaurant. It took calling the server three times before she came to take our order. During the meal, when she was helping to portion the wontons for us, she deliberately spilled a large puddle of soup on the table. After serving, she walked away without making any effort to clean it up. I stopped her and politely pointed at the puddle on the table, asking if she had any napkins. She handed me three napkins with a blank expression, threw them down, and left without cleaning the table, and without even offering a simple apology.
However, she was very warm and attentive toward the other nearby tables, and when serving them, there were no issues like spilled soup. Her behavior, which appeared to involve racial discrimination, seriously affected my dining experience. Therefore, I left her a zero tip and truthfully wrote about my experience on the app. What makes it even more absurd is that this was a Chinese restaurant, and she is...
Read moreOooookay. Well, I know we're not in a town with a lot of Chinese presence, but even mediocre Chinese food has to have a certain level of acceptability. The furnishings were middle-class with a side of kitsch. Pleasant, but not for date night. The menu is mostly what you would expect for a restaurant that caters to a western clientele. Won Ton soup, Sweet and Sour pork, Fried Rice, etc. We opted to go for relatively simple, yet more authentic standards: Ma Po Tofu, Kai Lan and Garlic, Braised Beef Clay Pot, Snow Peas with Scallops.
Every single dish was Waaaay. Too. Sweet. Ma Po tofu should not be sweet, Snow Peas and scallops should not be coated with a thick layer of cornstarch and sugar sauce, Kai Lan (chinese broccoli) shouldn't be considered a dessert item.
Although braised beef can be somewhat sweet, not like this... not like this...
When we finished, we had to check our mouths to make sure we still had teeth in them.
On a positive note, they kept the sugar out of the...
