My Stay at Best Western King George – Vancouver
I recently took a trip to Vancouver with my kids and stayed at the Best Western King George location. Our experience was amazing from start to finish!
Breakfast was included, which was a great way to start each day. There were plenty of options to choose from, and the staff were always around to help with anything we needed. Renuka, who worked during breakfast, stood out — she was professional, friendly, and made everyone feel welcome. She kept the eating area spotless and greeted each guest with a smile. Definitely a 10/10 for her service!
We stayed on the second floor, which was clean, quiet, and had cameras for extra security. The housekeeping team did a great job cleaning and wiping everything down, though I didn’t catch their names. My only small issue was that the “housekeeping” door tag doesn’t stay on the handle very well — it can easily fall off and cause confusion about whether you want your room cleaned.
The front desk staff were also wonderful. When we arrived, they welcomed my family warmly, and I appreciated that the entrance is locked in the late evening for extra safety — guests just buzz to get in. A special shoutout to Esar at the front desk! He was friendly, understanding, and handled everything professionally.
One of my favorite touches was the freshly baked cookies at the front desk in the evening — soft, warm, and perfect for a late-night sweet tooth! Late checkouts are handled easily, too, which made things super convenient for us.
The hotel is very clean and well maintained, with great amenities — an indoor pool, gym, business meeting space, and even a laundromat so you can wash your clothes before heading home. Plus, there’s a mall not too far away, which is great for a quick outing.

Upon arrival, we noticed some staff members, particularly a group of Punjabi girls at the front desk, displaying rude and unprofessional behavior. Their attitude was dismissive, and they spoke with a forced accent that came off as insincere. It felt like they were more interested in showing off than in providing good service. We had booked a room on the first floor in advance, but the receptionist informed us at check-in that our room wasn’t available and the only option was on the ground floor. When I asked if there was any price adjustment due to this change, I was sarcastically told, “You booked the cheapest room anyway.” This response was completely uncalled for and lacked basic courtesy. What made things worse was the clear difference in how guests were being treated. We noticed that white guests were greeted with warm smiles, polite language, and attentive service, whereas we, as Indians, were barely acknowledged, spoken to rudely, and made to feel unwelcome. It felt like we were being judged based on our background, and that is absolutely unacceptable in the hospitality industry. There was no courtesy, no “sir” or “ma’am,” no effort to make us feel comfortable. We weren’t expecting luxury , just basic respect, which we didn’t receive. Housekeeping team. Thank you, for all your hard work. My room was always clean and fresh, the housekeeping staff was always accommodating if I needed anything. Comfortable room and impeccable cleanliness. The staff always greeting me with a smile and “good morning”.
Overall if I could give it a higher rating, to all the staff and hotel, I would definitely give it……..10+ Next time I’m in Surrey I would definitely stay at this hotel.
