Hotel Condor de Plata — Hotel in Punta Arenas

Although I have not stayed at this hostel I wanted to write about the helpful service they gave us. Six of us arrived in Punta Arenas recently one Sunday afternoon to discover that there were no available bus tickets to Puerto Natal that day. It was important for us to get there because our accommodation was booked and our hiking trip was planned. Alexis and his brother spent a very long time making many phone calls to find someone available to drive us there. There was some kind of event in this city so there were not many rooms available. So we ended up here and found the staff very helpful. There was no parking space but we were allowed to park the motorbikes in the yard. ||||Unfortunately, the hotel is old, dirty and rundown. And overpriced.||We stayed for two nights. Our first room was a matrimonial with a rather good bed. For the second night we stayed in a bigger front room with an extra bed. Unfortunately the queen-size bed was horrible so in the morning we both had pain with our back.||||Breakfast...

We have travelled all over Latin and North America and do not have high expectations. This place was filthy. No sign that there is a vacuum. Worse, the sheets had not been changed from the previous guest. Gross amounts of hair in the bedding. Would not be surprised for 25$ per night but not for the $80 we paid on Booking. On the plus side, when we complained they changed the sheets. Also it is ideally located for the Natales...
