Hostal, cabañas y Turismo BAUER — Hotel in Punta Arenas

We stayed here in November and at the time whilst it was a disappointing stay I didn't feel compelled to write anything. The bedroom was clean and reasonably comfortable although basic. Breakfast had some variety but was very difficult to find; it was held in a different building and there were no signs plus there were no staff to ask as the front desk is only manned when they are awaiting a check in. The biggest issue is that on check in, the man at reception managed to tear a page in my passport when photocopying it. This has resulted in me having to pay US$325 for an emergency travel document and a new passport to allow me to continue travelling. I emailed them a few weeks ago and have received no response and they have denied all knowledge with booking.com. Unless they rip passports regularly I am surprised this has not remained in their minds. On their customer service basis alone I would not recommend...

Javier and his wife were amazing. We booked a place, but once we got there, there was a different family in the place. Javier and his wife immediately came and took us to another one of their properties. Once we arrived, our room was perfect. It had what we needed (a double bed, bunk beds, and a private bathroom). The beds were comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. They also opened their store for us, so we were able to buy some snacks (it was Christmas Eve and late). In the morning, Javier made us a huge breakfast that was delicious! We only stayed one night on the way through but the place was reasonable. The bed was large and pretty comfortable which made for a good sleep. The breakfast was nothing amazing but there was plenty to go around.||||The place was a little hard to find as the place at first glance looks like a salon as there is one downstairs with the same name leading us to walk round the building looking for an entrance.||Also felt a little awkward as we weren't really shown where anything was when we arrived and it feels like someone's home so you're not sure where you can go with regards to kitchens and bathrooms.||||Overall though it was positive and would stay again.||||(On a side note the...
