We booked this as a 3* Hotel not as a Hostal, which in fact headed up our booking form, so I was surprised I couldn't find this in Trip Advisor as Hotel Don Sebastian. We stayed 2 nights and I had anticipated the rooms were small so booked a triple to give more room.||||The room was clean and basic which again we were expecting, what we didn't expect was the complete indifference of the reception/concierge, which honestly was non-existent. Every time we asked for help or just a question we were sent off somewhere else as something wasn't working or they didn't know. We felt unwelcome and a little abandoned, especially as we left for an early flight at 5.30 am and our water in the bathroom had been switched off, we couldn't even use the loo. We used bottled water to clean our teeth. Reception was locked, there was no one around, we just left.||||The howling dogs will keep you up, it's not their fault and they are well-behaved in the town itself, it's just a fact of life, you will not escape it !||||The pool was very dirty when we arrived, however, they did start cleaning it up when they saw us sitting there.||||It's a very difficult situation, there has been flooding/bad rain in the last 6 weeks and it could be that the hotel has been badly affected so we don't mind about the basic furniture, rotting pool chairs, etc. I guess when you have a friendly, efficient concierge a lot can be forgiven, unfortunately, I just can't recommend this place based on convenient...
We are never staying at Don Sebastian Hotel ever again. The hotel service is bad and the heater system is even worse. We arrived in San Pedro de Atacama at around 10pm, but the gate was closed (it stays closed 24hours), we rang the doorbell but no one came to reception us. After 20minutes waiting outside, it was 4°C, we got phone reception and could call them, after calling 3 times a guy picked up and came to reception us. We didn't think that we would have problems since we informed them about our arrival date previously. As soon as we got inside of the hotel the guy gave us instructions about the hotel and especially told us about the water and the heating system, as we were in the desert they would change the towels in every 3 days and the heating system would only turn on during night time, we understood and agreed. But we didn't know that their "night time" was from 11pm to 2am. My family and I slept early since the tours were in the early morning, because of that we had to sleep feeling cold and also there was 3 nights that all of us woke up in the middle of the night because the room was really cold (we stayed 4 nights). Besides that, there was one day that we went to the astronomic tour, that happens at night, and we asked them to turn on the heating system before (around 8:30-9pm) and when we came back at 12am the heater was off and continued that way all night long. It was the worst day, it was really cold. We complained about they turning off the heater and they told us that since we asked them to turn on early, they turned it off early. Hotel reception is terrible, people there are really rude and the hotel service/reception is not 24hours. I don't recommend Don Sebastian, the location is pretty good, but there are a lot of other hotels...
Read moreWE SLEPT ON THE STREET DURING THE NIGHT BECAUSE OF THEM. We called the hotel before flying from Santiago to tell them we would arrive late because our flight was late and that we were planning to arrive around 12.30 am. In the description they wrote that they are 600 mt from the central plaza and there is the wrong direction, the cabanas are in hell, we found the place they were signaling and there was none. They told us there was no problem for the delay. We arrived at 12.15 am and THE HOTEL WAS CLOSED. NO ONE ANSWERED US ON THE PHONE. All the other hotels were full because it was the weekend of 15th August. We were trembling for the cold and someone gave us some sheets but it has been horrible. THE OWNER ARRIVED AT 8.00 AM and we were very angry, I told him that was absurd since we even advised we were late and it is completely ridiculous they do not answer the phone and get the wrong direction on booking. HE TOLD ME I HAD NO RESPECT OF HIM. I SLEPT ON THE STREET BECAUSE OF THIS AND I AM THE ONE NOT HAVING RESPECT? DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! IT WILL RUIN...
