La Toscana Hotel Boutique — Hotel in Viña del Mar

I decided to stay at Toscana after reading previous comments from travelers of Trip Advisor as I usually do. I was checked at the Florencia suite which as very big room with two areas, one where a living room and bathroom are and the other is the bedroom. Size is big and very confortable. Breakfast is average but was offered in the room which is great. Cable tv is very basic and on my opinion should be improved. Parking is an issue if you are driving as there is only one parking available and if it is already occipied then yopu have to leave your car in the street. There are a few small bars and fast food restaurants near the hotel and also delivery can be used. Nothing terrible about this place. Neither is there anything outstanding. Most aspects are a balance of both. For example, location. Fairly close to the beaches, Metro, and walking distance to the core of Vina's nightlife, but on a very busy, noisy street so even if your room faces the residential street at the back, noise is still ever present. And service: while the fellow on the desk in the daytime (Christophe?) spoke English well and was accommodating, the woman on at night could not or would not and just made you feel like anything you wanted was bothering her. A group of us had booked three rooms at La Toscana in April 2015 for a stay in January 17-20 2016. At the end of October we each got an e-mail from the hotel administrator saying that they were sorry but they had to cancel our February reservations due to maintenance on our rooms. We replied, saying there had to be a mistake, but never heard any further. The online booking sites were still showing rooms available for our dates but at about double the rate we had reserved under.
