Please note that my stay was before the New Year's Eve rush:||||Hostal Vista Hermosa was an absolute dream. We stayed in room 24, which had a decent view of the area. This is a mansion turned hotel, so there are a couple of bumps in the road. We have to ring the doorbell every time we want to return to the hotel; on the one hand this is great because the ladies that take care of the hotel (Vivi and Patty, during our stay) screen everyone who enters the building. On the other hand, it's a little annoying if you have to wait around for someone to open the door. The most I've ever had to wait was 5 minutes, so it's not a big deal. Breakfast is served until 10:30am and you can either have it in the dining room (highly recommended) or in your room. The breakfast includes tea, milk, coffee, scrambled eggs, toast, avocado, fresh fruit juice, fresh fruit, ham, and I can't remember the rest. The ladies that run the hotel prepare everything themselves, and they're fast.||||If you're the kind of person that likes a family friendly location, this is definitely for you. You can make yourself a cup of tea anytime you want, and can roam about the hotel freely. And if you buy food and want to store it in the refrigerator, it's not a problem! Everyone is respectful of others.||The building is located 3-4 blocks away from the beach and Reloj de Flores, so be sure to keep your camera close by. And wear plenty of sunscreen!||There are a couple of bars close by, as well as restaurants and shopping centers. La feria artesanal is close by too (plenty of jewelry!!!).||||Going back to the hotel review, everything is kept very clean. I'm a neat freak, the first thing I did was ask to see the rooms before deciding on staying in the location. The bathrooms were absolutely spotless, the toilet had good water pressure (do you really want to stay in a place that has a toilet that doesn't flush well? no, you don't), the bed spreads were clean, the hardwood floors were spotless, and there was no dust. ||Our stay was roughly $68,000.000 (Chilean pesos), and well worth the money. ||Did I mention the WiFi connection was great?||||I don't recommend this hotel for those who want a bellboy bringing their luggage up to their room, if that's the kind of place you want, walk a block north to the Best Western Hotel (on Ecuador street) and stay there. Their breakfast buffet (from 6:45AM-10AM) was decent, but some of the food was salty. Their internet connection was poor; it's spotty and I kept getting knocked off. The people are very friendly and helpful. The taxi service in front was a plus too.||At $65,400.000 Chilean pesos a night, it's so-so. You don't get your money's worth at Best Western.||||||WARNING: If you're staying here during the New Year's Eve rush, your experience may greatly differ from...
Read moreSimply amazing place, not quite a hostel - looks and feels more like a guest house situated in a beautiful 100-year old house. It is quiet, extremely clean and well maintained, and its unbelievable host ladies are the friedliest hotel staff I ever had to deal with. I simply have nothing bad to say about this place. Accommodation itself was excellent, our double moderately priced big room was equipped with obviously very recently installed or renovated bathrooms with great hot showers. Room was spotless and carefully maintained during our stay. Hotel has a beautiful terrace where we enjoyed our creatively prepared breakfasts. Hotel has a kitchen free to use so we were able to prepare coffee and refreshments any time we wanted. WI-FI worked great. Location is awesome considering you can easily reach Viña beaches, Valparaiso or any other attractive place close by. Lots of bars in the neighbourhood as well - but its noise never reached our hotel room. Major micro intersection is steps away and from there you can easily get to all the attractive places around Viña like Valparaiso, Reñaca, or Con Con. Well what else can I say - hope I haven't forgotten something. ||||As an additional bonus recommendation, we had an unfortunate accident in Reñaca beach where our backpack disappeared. With it the key of our room's safe where all our valuables were stored disappeared as well. We felt quite embarrassed about the whole situation when we explained what happened to the hotel's owner Isabel. With again unbelievably friendly attitude, she took all the blame and took care of finding someone to forcingly open the safe - free of charge for us.||||Great place - stay there - you won't...
Read moreI liked the fact that you had to ring the outside bell to enter the hotel, so it was not open to strangers just to wander in. It's in a quiet and select part of town; about 30 minutes walk from the bus station and close to shops and restaurants. The beach is about 15 minutes away.||I was a solo traveller and initially I was given a single room, which I thought was quite small and dingy. The hotel was fairly quiet so I was able to change to a larger much better room at no extra cost.||This double room had a lovely bathroom with a shower that delivered hot water in moments as opposed to hours! There was a flat screen tv on the wall, a big comfortable double bed, two bedside cabinets, a table, an easy chair and a huge wardrobe. There was no chest of drawers or air-conditioning, but free wi-fi.||Breakfast was fairly basic and was served, but varied from day to day.||All the staff I met were very friendly, though their English...
