It is my family's last night staying at the Fairmont, Beijing. It has been a truly exceptional experience. Despite these difficult times in the world, the staff have been outstanding and without fault. From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel very welcome and received the treatment you would expect from a Fairmont hotel. The facilities are clean, modern and the overall environment is elegant and sophisticated. The hotel also display artifacts dating back to the Neolithic period which is amazing to view, and really gives you a sense of how the hotel take pride in their Chinese heritage. Erik, the manager on the concierge team was very informative regarding the historical areas, and provided expert knowledge of specific locations, as well as giving advice on where to find the best Peking duck. Thank you Erik!
Our room was spacious and cleaned to a high standard daily. For my wife and I, the quality of the food and service was the highlight of our stay. George Ma, the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, is a credit to the hotel. He has gone above and beyond to make sure that we had the best experience possible, and regularly checked-in with us during breakfast and dinner times, and no request was too big for George. He was highly professional, kind and courteous throughout our stay. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, George. Also, the quality of the food cooked by chef Litto was outstanding, worthy of any Michelin star restaurant. Modern takes on classic international cuisine, as well as Asian inspired dishes, served at 'The Cut' and 'Luna 8' hotel restaurants. Thank you Litto for an amazing culinary experience. Lastly, a special thanks to Ellen and Gloria from the waiting staff team for their highly attentive and professional service, going out of their regular duties to make sure that we were catered for during our restaurant experiences. Ellen and Gloria, are an asset to the hotel, thank you so much for your hospitality.
We will be very sad to leave Beijing tomorrow, and to check-out of the Fairmont. On landing in Beijing, we felt so much warmth from the Beijing people. So kind and helpful. It is true what they say, you always feel the warmth in the North! We will certainly be coming back to Beijing in the near future and staying at the Fairmont. Great hotel, and even greater staff. We will miss you!

Read moreThere’s a few issues and no one was able to resolve it whilst we were there! ||||We were booked in for 5 nights but only stayed 4 because our flight from Shanghai was cancelled although not the hotel’s fault. When we checked in the following day, we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience to them for being a day late!! The receptionist couldn’t find our booking even after I rung them to advise that I would be coming the next day once I knew our flight was cancelled! The 2 receptionists that checked us in especially the one assisting Beata was so arrogant and rudely commented, just book them in any available room!!||||Secondly, no one offered the assist helping our luggage’s to our room once we got our keys to the room! ||||Thirdly we were advised that we were upgraded to Fairmont Gold room which entitled us the use of the Lounge! When we went in to visit the lounge, we were rudely stopped and were embarrassed by the check in staff as he said “Don’t you know you cannot use this lounge as you’re not worthy!” May be it’s his language but no screaming was necessary!||||Fourthly, our room !! Where do I start? The air conditioning was faulty and I reported it on the first night and was told to open the window as there’s nothing they can do!! I asked for our room to be changed to one that has a working air conditioning unit but was refused and was told the whole hotel air conditioning unit is not working properly! ||||The housekeeping was a hit and miss!! Occasionally we will get teas and coffee but sometimes we had to even called to ask for towels…….||||The restaurant - Lunar 8 where we dined in one night as we have USD100 to spend! Food and service was again hit and missed! The prawns dish came burnt and when I requested for it to be changed, we were told sorry, there’s nothing wrong with that dish and it’s fine for us to eat! I have photos and can be provided if required||||Enough said!! Not using Fairmont again….!! So disappointed that it ruined our...
Read moreWe chose the Fairmont Beijing for our 5-day trip to Beijing because of its great location and facilities. And what we arrived to was exactly that. The lobby was opulent and spacious, and the public facilities were all clean and luxurious. This includes the pool and fitness centre, which was large and very plentifully fitted out, the restaurant and lounge, which provided a great breakfast service. We stayed in the corner room of the 23rd (top) floor, which overlooked the Tonghui river, buildings, and parks nearby. The views were great, and the room was spacious, comfortable and offered a variety of modern ammenities and features. The room felt grand and large, and it was furnished with unique and stately furniture. However, bits of this show the age of this hotel, and features like the charging area could be completely pulled out of the desk, revealing a mess of wires, the reading light attached to the bed was loose and looked as if it was going to fall off, there were large scratches on the control panel next to the bed, and the cover on the sockets in the bathroom were taped on with duct tape. These small details, although not major, are still a detriment to the whole feel and comfort of the hotel, but can and should be easily fixed. The service from check-in was smooth and attentive, and they provided everything we needed for our stay. The Fairmont Beijing is located centrally, and a small walk away from the world trade centre and Yonganli line 1 metro station. The connection to the line 1 metro system was a great anchor point to go to destinations like people's square. Overall, the Fairmont Beijing is a well located hotel which offers luxurious and modern amenities/facilities which add to your stay, and we had...
