Historic themed Hotel with many vintage decorations, service is lovely with some free essential travel items at the front desk. Employees are all very nice, they greet you when they see you and assist with what you need.
The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and room service is quick and efficient. They also top your room up with a yogurt drink, rabbit candy and water daily.
The location is very central to historical destinations and the neighbourhood maintains its cultural heritage. So the road leading to the hotel is fairly narrow so watch out of traffic when walking.
Food Breakfast: From 7am; 38rmb/pp (Pay at counter) delicious Chinese breakfast with a range of hot, cold & fried food as well as coffee, tea & juice. Late Night Snacks: 9pm-midnight they provide FREE porridge and eggs (Ask for it at reception) They have several bars right outside the hotel which are also nicely themed with on of them being very popular as there are lines every nights.
CONs Due to regulations and modernisation the street leading to the hotel is narrow as it is a one way street and people park their cars on the road. Watch out for cars when walking When calling for taxis it’s recommended to walk out onto the main streets to call otherwise you may end up spending more time waiting and travelling through the narrow street.
There is another Nostalgia Hotel nearby which many people get confused about, leading to many people writing reviews onto that hotel (This is the better...
Read moreIf you show up late at night as many people do, it can look a bit shady because residential alleys can be small. But once you get inside the parking lot and realize the place is legit, things get lovely. The small check-in area is cute. While English is definitely not well spoken they try hard using their phones to translate. Rooms are small but functional. And surprisingly clean and well appointed. Location is decent with subway proximity and near the Confucius and Lama temples. I would have given the place 5 starts but ended up with a first floor room that bumps up agains the entryway which made it noisy at times. The breakfast is definitely not a big 5 start hotel spread, but at 20 RMB, the fact that you get freshly made eggs, porridge, coffee, toast, typical Chinese breakfast style fried rice and stir-fried veggies, hard to complain. I had it both mornings that I was there and was very happy with it. Literally $3 USD you can't even get a coffee if you go out.||||Finally, rating a hotel is a bit like trying to rate food or wine. It's always relative to the "class" that you are considering. So for those who always stay at Mandarin Oriental, Peninsula, Four Seasons, or Waldorf, please consider that this hotel is literally one tenth the price most nights. And one has to consider the...
