It has been a long time since I last returned to Beijing, and staying at SSAW garden hotel was truly unforgettable. Located in a quiet hutong beside Yonghe Temple, hidden in the traditional Hutong valley, this hotel was designed in a traditional Chinese classical style. The moment my car stopped at the entrance, I thought: “This feels like a hidden paradise!”
The entrance is lush with greenery and features a serene pond where golden fishes swim gracefully, creating the atmosphere of an ancient Chinese garden. The painted beams and classical courtyard make you feel like stepping into a cinematic scene of old China. Comfortable sofas and tables invite guests to relax outdoors in a peaceful and leisurely way.
Inside, the lobby is filled with sunlight, artistic yet tranquil. The staffs are so warm, attentive, and international, making the whole stay feel welcoming. Each floor has its own little reading lounge where you can enjoy coffee and traditional snacks ,a thoughtful, homely touch.
My room was elegant and minimalist, with soft lighting, plush carpets, and a view of the quiet garden. The bathroom was spacious and stocked with high-quality amenities, making the stay refined and comfortable, btw there are robot services and they are so fun and efficient !
Breakfast was abundant, offering both authentic Beijing-style dishes and classic Western favorites, all beautifully prepared. At lunchtime, the restaurant also serves a new business set menu — including my favorite Zhajiang Noodles, absolutely not to be missed. In the evenings, the hotel even offers comforting bowls of congee, which felt so warm and caring. To my delight, they also gift guests with bead bracelets or you can choose your favorite beads and create a personalized design, either as a keepsake or a gift for loved ones.
The location is simply unmatched: right by the Lama Temple, and within walking distance of historic hutongs and a famous food street. From here, you immediately feel a unique atmosphere ;a cultural and spiritual blessing energy that only Beijing can offer.
I wholeheartedly recommend SSAW garden hotel beijing, not just a stay, but a journey into the...
Read moreIt is definitely a budget hotel on the doorstep of the Hutongs. It was a 15 minute walk from the underground station. 20 minutes from the Llama and Confucius Temples. 30 mimutes by car from the airport. The hotel is air conditioned, gives you water in your room every day and changes the towels which is more than you get in some hotels out there. The sockets had British fittings so our plugs fit. The room had air con that worked too. The Wi-Fi gets worse the further you get away from reception but we had rooms on the inner courtyard side on floors 3 and 4 and it worked in our rooms. The bathroom was fine, always had hot water. Breakfast has quite a few options, again, better than I had in other hotels in China. It is tucked away down a side street but its quite easy to find. As I said at the beginning it's a budget hotel but of you're not a fussy traveller then you can get on quite well...

Booked this hotel for a one-night stay to catch an early morning flight. The location was ideal - just steps from the airport express train. What a surprise! This turned out to be the best hotel I've ever stayed in China.
The room, though small, was fantastic. The attention to detail was impressive - automatic toilet with a heated seat (a nice touch!), and even two types of shower gels, one for a morning and one for an evening fragrance. Excellent value for money!
The only minor drawback is that reaching the hotel from the metro requires walking down a narrow alley. If you have large luggage, consider taking a...
