This hotel is great value in a great location. I booked a double room and is was very good. It's not the Shangri La but you don't expect that. Comfortable double bed, nice warm room, hot shower, free wi-if. Lots of great places to eat within minutes and fascinating Hutongs to explore. As one other person mentioned there is a slight smell but I think that's just the smell of the Hutongs and you quickly get use to it. I ate at a beautiful vegetarian restaurant in one of the adjacent Hutongs called Baihe Vegetarian. I also really loved The Lama Temple. Rich colours and astonishing Buddhas. Lots of local people there praying. And the best thing is how close it is to the subway, about 400m, which means you can get anywhere in Beijing for 3-7rnb. It's on line 2 which is very useful. Another positive is the front desk speak some English. This is now my second time in Beijing and although I'm only staying one night this time I think this is s good...
Read moreWe decided to give the hutong experience a try but was quite disappointed as we were given a room with no windows. Also it can be quite noisy as the sound proofing is not very good. ||||Room is clean n basic. Don't expect hotel type of bed .it's basically just spring mattress with not much foam .I had slept in more comfortable bed in a shared dorm in bangkok n Paris.||||As for location. Very close to 2 metro stations which can get u to many places and lots of eateries outside. ||||Wifi is good but there are many non china apps that you cannot use, like WhatsApp, Instagram, Google. We have our own data but it's useless as the signal is very weak in the room. ||||In all...good value for location. Room wise , I thought it could be 10 to 20% cheaper but this is Beijing, things are expensive compared to other cities in China. ||||We may actually cone back if given a better room for the money...
Read moreThey've completely renovated the hotel in recent years, and the new style is beautiful. The location is central, near the metro, and surrounded by shops and restaurants a few steps away, including the Llama temple and Confuscius temple. The breakfast is great, and there's a coffee corner with as much coffee and tea (high quality) as you like. Rooms are modern, with a comfortable bed, free fridge drinks and more tea. The shower and smart toilet are amazing. They also do a free laundry service! What really makes the hotel stand out is the staff. The ladies are wonderful, friendly, and accommodating, with a decent level of english and always making sure we had everything we needed and providing advice on our itinerary and booking when asked (we took the great wall tour with lunch and it was great). I'd happily stay again next time...
