Yu Yang Hotel — Hotel in Beijing

This is not a bad hotel, but it doesn't quite deserve its 4 stars. The location along the LiangMa river is nice, but very far from the next subway station, and you will find it hard to find the right bus if you do not know much Chinese. The view from some of the rooms on the top floors is a plus. Their breakfast is quite good, with a lot of variety. On the downside, the carpet in the room should have been replace a long time ago, it's threadbare and dirty. You do not really want to walk barefoot on it. The drain plug got stuck in my room, but they simply remove it permanently, not a real fix. It's not in top/4 star condition. At check out, they wanted to make me pay for a lunch for which I had given them a voucher, which I stressed but they continued insisting on that, so I gave them another one for the dinner of the same day I had not used. Location is good. Rooms are spacious but furniture is outdated. My non-smoking room had still some ash on the carpet and smelled from smoke. I had a probably unfortunate but very annoying experience: In the middle of the night I awoke from the sound of what I first thought to be rain. However when I opened my eyes a lot of water was dripping out of the ceiling and on the glass table. After some time I was sent to another room, which the key card wouldn’t open at first. So I had to go back to the lobby. During this whole ordeal it was hard to communicate as there was nobody speaking English on-site, only over the phone. No apology (except by the Houskeeping lady who came to my room first) was expressed for the inconvenience from hotel side. Parking has to be paid additionally. The parking lot is a non-plastered very uneven gravel ground behind the hotel.I would have expected more from the hotel category...
