Booking this hotel was the best choice we made on this entire trip!!!
I rented a room in this hotel in April 2025. We are travelers from the Netherlands with Arabic roots, so it was hard to find a place where we were sure they would accept us. We ended up booking this place because it was cheap and close to the city center. At first, we were a bit stressed because some of the reviews seemed very negative, but they are very misleading.
First of all, I have seen people complain about having to buy a different room when they arrived. What they didn’t mention is that some of the original rooms got flooded. This can happen to any hotel, and the fact that they still offered us an available room is very nice.
Second is the cleanliness. Not only do they mop your floor every day, but they also give you everything you need, including two fresh bottles of water every day and clean towels daily. This made the stay a lot more comfortable.
We also had a room close to the street side and had no trouble with noise, except when we left the window open.
The location is also great, with a lot of big shopping centers within walking distance and a metro station nearby.
The craziest part is that this isn’t even the most impressive thing about this hotel. Where it really shines is in the service. The people who work here are the nicest people you will ever meet. It started off with the small things, like always saying ni hao when we entered and helping us in the lift. (Yes, they don’t speak English, but they are very familiar with foreigners and are really good at using translation apps.) This immediately put us in a good mood.
But on the third day, something went very wrong. My friend lost his passport at the Great Wall of China. This is a really difficult issue in this country because basically nobody speaks English, and you can’t go to most of the famous places without passport control. In a panic, and with it already being late in the evening, we decided to ask the reception for help. Not only did they contact the police for us, but they also took the effort to walk to the police station for us first thing in the morning. And that’s not even everything. Once the passport was found the next day, we were contemplating taking a taxi back to the Great Wall to pick it up. They helped us even more by arranging a taxi to drive over to the hotel with the passport. Because we were stressed, we were bothering them a lot in the time between these moments with questions for updates. No matter what, they stayed respectful, kind, and cheerful.
If I ever go back to China, I will book this hotel again for sure. Even if I had a million dollars to...

Read moreI stayed at the Red Hotel over four nights for while in Beijing on business.||The location was very convenient to a project I was working on.||The room itself that I had was quite large and nice. A big round tub large enough for two, glass shower. Furnishings in pretty good condition. The employees were friendly. The room was fairly quiet even with the windows open.||There is a complementary breakfast across the street in the morning at Mei Zhou Don Po which was excellent.||I had a lot of problems though. ||1. Hot Water / Or lack thereof: There was decent warm water the first night, but for the next three days the shower water temp was never above lukewarm.||2. There is a large radiator which kept the room very warm. Way too warm at night. No conditioned air though so the cigarette smoke from the hallway seemed to come in everyday in this non smoking hotel.||3. The room wasn't cleaned well and they never removed dirty dishes, seeming to only wash the coffee cups in the sink on 3 days out of 4. on the one day they didn't bother to do that.||4. They refreshed the toothbrush each day with a new one, but not the soap, not the instant coffee packets.||5. No one spoke any English at all. But they were friendly. I am in their country so I figure its my problem, but it is a hotel in the embassy district so it would be helpful to have at least one person who spoke English.||6. the cleaning was lackluster with some things cleaned, others not so much.||7. king size mattress was ok, but it...
