I stayed about a week at the Minyoun Siniya hotel in Chengdu with my mother. The hotel and most hotels in Chengdu serve primarily Chinese guests and there was very few staff at the hotel who spoke English. We had a few difficulties communicating with the English speaking staff at times too. The hotel was in a fairly central location, it was about a 7-minute walk to the nearest metro station and you could stroll to Tianfu Square in about 20 minutes of walking. It was difficult at times to get a cab from the hotel since the hotel is located on a quieter street that runs along the river. Most cabs that drove by usually had occupants inside and the hotel did not have a great system for flagging one down, they just waited until one came by, which could take some time. The first morning we were there we had breakfast, it is strange how they only provide 1 complimentary breakfast. We could not find any coffee and had to ask someone for it, which when it arrived was super strong. The only thing that suited my western style breakfast taste was the deep fried dough which is popular in China and which if I had bought on the street would have cost me a fraction of the price of what we were charged for the second breakfast. I would recommend walking down the street to Maan Coffee which serves waffles and other more western-style breakfasts and coffee. Or just go outside and pay 2 yuan for your fried dough. The bathroom was pretty nice, but the toilet room had the door installed poorly and as a result, you could not close the sliding door all the way, which was annoying to me. The shower was large and nice. I tried to go swimming one night and should have guessed that like many public pools in China the hotel required you to wear a swim cap, which is you see how some people wear swim caps you would realize they do not do much for keeping hair out of the pool. I had also anticipated that the pool would be calm and relaxing but instead, it was filled with screaming children. My mother wanted to sit and read a book but all the chaise lounges were soaking wet and when we arrived they were out of full-sized towels and tried to give us hand towels. I had also thought that I might use the concierge services to arrange a few day trips but after talking with the woman I realized that it was not going to be easy to arrange and it was probably best to use public transportation and taxis to get to where we wanted to go (this despite the fact my mother and I do not speak...
Read moreMy wife and me stayed a week in this hotel from 23 Oct 2017 for a week. A friend recommend this hotel to us. It turned out hr advice is a good one. ||The hotel is situated just off the center of city center, separated by the beauiful city river which runs across the whole of the city.As it is across he river, it is more quiet .However, it is still very convenient. two underground stations are nearby , in 5 minutes walk.||At the back of the hotel is the old town with a lot of interesting things gong on and a lot of street food there too.||The room we live in is 2612. It is a very good room.big and spacious, The beds are excellent and we we have very good sleep. It is probably even bigger than king size.||The room is clean and tidy.||I must say sbout the shower, It is excellent,What is better than have a good shower when the day is done.It can be hot and is good if it is in fall or winter season.||The bathroom also has a bathtub.||The toilet is separated which suit us just fine.I is however a bit small and the lighting there can be improved.||There is a long table which serves all the things, except for a small coffee table.||Interestingly, there is a good sofa, a high back chair but no proper writing chair.||I am a tea person and there is a electric kettle. So that is good.||The window view is good all day and night and it is reasonably quiet.||I am not sure if the room is central air con . We just open the window a bit to let the breeze comes in if we feel it is hot or stuffy.||There are a few down side.||first, the English of the staff is still not up to standard and this may be a problem.||Second, the concierge is not too helpful. First, I ask for a city map and a local map and both are lacking. It also appeared that they are less than knowledgeable on the city or on the neighborhood. Finally, sometimes it is difficult to find the bell captain.||As Chegdu often rains a bit, it is good that they have umbrella to borrow.||The breakfast is above average for us but for Westerner, the choice is not big. But you have the usual bacon and egg etc.||The third floor restaurant is good and not expensive, provided you do not ask for fish .||In summary, a good hotel to stay in Chengdu. Probably above many of thee other hotels. But if you are very conern about service, then this might ...
Read moreHello fellow travelers! I recently stayed at a hotel in the city center and wanted to share my experience, which had a mix of positives and negatives. Initially, the hotel had a pleasing appearance, but unfortunately, the overall service and cleanliness left much to be desired.Upon arrival, I encountered a chaotic scene at the front desk, with a lot of noise and commotion. This continued during the check-in process, which was quite bothersome. Once I entered the room, I noticed a pleasant view, but my disappointment grew when I realized that the room wasn’t adequately cleaned. To make matters worse, I discovered that the toilet paper roll provided was clearly used and not new. This was completely unacceptable and a clear violation of cleanliness standards.Furthermore, I encountered issues with the shower head. It didn’t function properly. In addition, the shower head and fixtures were covered in limescale, indicating a lack of maintenance and attention to detail. To add to the list of disappointments, the scale provided in the room for weight measurement was non-functional. This was an inconvenience, especially for those who rely on accurate weight measurement during their travels.I believe it’s crucial for hotels to prioritize cleanliness, maintenance, and guest satisfaction. Discovering a used toilet paper roll, encountering a faulty shower head, and experiencing a non-functional scale were major letdowns. On a more positive note, the hotel’s breakfast was average, nothing exceptional. Since I’ll be staying in Chengdu for two more days, I decided to switch to another hotel. Regrettably, I won’t be considering this hotel for future stays.I hope this feedback will serve as an opportunity for the hotel to address these issues and improve their overall service, cleanliness, maintenance, and attention to detail. As travelers, it’s important for us to share our experiences to encourage better practices in the industry.Wishing you all safe and pleasant...
