Lightweight Luxury by the River
While this property doesn’t exude the over the top frills and fancy that you get to see at some of the SOFITEL properties around Asia, it comes fitted with all the standard Luxury elements and creature comforts to make your stay in Chengdu pleasant.
LOCATION: Lovely location right next to the River and with easy access to the arterial highways of the city.
DINE + DRINK: Nice Lobby level Bar and a couple of Fine dining restaurants on site. Didn’t get to eat the breakfast so don’t know how it was

Read moreOur family of 8 recently enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Sofitel Chengdu Taihe in 3 Prestige Suites with daily Club access. The facilities were great and staff helpful when requests were made of them. Our only disappointment was to be initially allocated rooms on smoking floors when we had clearly requested a high floor with non smoking preferences - as is the case with our Accor Live membership profile settings. We arrived late in the night so there was no Accor Ambassador to help with the check-in, the overnight staff seemed to be a little overwhelmed by the lack of suitable prestige suites available - we were initially told that there was only one such type room on every floor - however upon checking on the fire escape diagram in the room you could clearly see other room configurations in the suite class setup. In the end they managed to bump one of the groups from the 7th Floor up to the 18th Floor. The others remained on 8th and 10th Floors respectively. Its annoying that in this day and age that hotels are not completely smoke free - passive smoke smells are not a great for the guests or the hotels...
Read moreFirstly this is no longer a Sofitel as others have mentioned and not sure why TA don’t correct. It is reflecting this as tired and old fashioned in lots of ways (and looking a bit lost as clear they are not utilising the space Sofitel did as not the same clientele.|On the plus side though our executive room was huge, river view and clean. It was clear someone had been smoking in it despite being a non smoking floor and the big negative was the air con did not work. The front desk did give us a fan though which was good. The bathroom was similarly large and well appointed. All a bit dated but comfortable and staff were excellent (albeit little English spoken). |Breakfast was good and plentiful in options. No fresh juice but good coffee and a wide |selection of Chinese and western foods.|Also the pool was closed (I suspect indefinitely ) so that is not available nor the Exec lounge (but we did get a free drink voucher- limited to soft...
