Grand Parcvue Hotel Residence Chengdu — Hotel in Chengdu

We had previously been to the Grand Parcvue Hotel Residence just over a couple of years ago, when it was under a different name, and we had enjoyed our stay there. So when we returned to Chengdu, it was an obvious choice to return once again to the hotel. It's a in great location, which makes it easy to get to the airport by Didi, and or course it's well situated to then head to the Panda Research breeding park, which is about 25 minutes away by Didi.

With several shopping malls very close by and several small convenience stores including a family Mart and a Lawsons, you have a good choice of places to go to get a snack or something more substantial to eat.

The hotel staff are professional and friendly with the added bonus of the front desk staff speaking good English.

The rooms are a generous size, and are clean, and well maintained. But the big selling point are the facilities. There's a great swimming pool, a good sized gym, and even a table tennis table located on the 7th floor providing entertainment for most needs. Another bonus is that there's an area on the 7th floor which allows you the chance to go outside onto the 'roof'. This outside terraced area is great. Anyone who's stayed in Hotels in China in particular, but also in an increasing number of hotels around the world, will know that there are many hotels where you can't even open the windows to get fresh air nevermind having an opportunity to go outside. So a place that offers this kind of space outside, is a rare thing outside of Japan, where most hotels offer this as routine.

Added to this if you just want to have a chance to relax, the 6th floor offers a room with massage chairs to help the weary traveller.

Damaged Shoes, Faulty Dryer, and Poor response from the manager

Stayed here for 2 nights on July 4th and had a terrible experience. The in-room dryer malfunctioned and ruined two pairs of shoes—melted, deformed, and insoles destroyed. The machine kept looping at 1 minute left, jumping back to 40, and wouldn’t stop unless we cut the power. After shutting it off, the door jammed and required a technician to open it.

Management’s response? Blamed us for using the dryer for shoes (though no signs said not to), claimed their machines never malfunction, and offered a ridiculous "fix"—glue, paper stuffing, and cheap insoles. No understanding of the issue , no compensation, not even a simple gesture like free breakfast.

This is not the level of service you’d expect from a 5-star hotel. Extremely disappointed. Use the laundry machines at your own risk—and don’t expect help if...
