If I were to rate based on the price I paid, what impressed me most was how grand everything felt — from the amenities to the facilities. I especially loved the massage chair, the spacious bathtub, and the L’Occitane toiletries. Everything in the room felt thoughtfully designed.
Breakfast was great, with plenty of selections, and the hotel’s location is convenient — just a short 3-minute walk to a 7-Eleven, and close to several shopping centers.
However, in terms of service, I feel there’s room for improvement if the hotel aims to meet Forbes-recommended standards. The interactions felt robotic, lacking warmth and personal touch. Check-in and check-out processes were slow. During check-in, for example, the staff member (Dylan) took my passport to the back office without explanation after scanning it at the counter. The whole process felt unclear and impersonal. When I tried to ask questions, he simply shut me off — perhaps due to a language barrier, but it still left an uncomfortable impression.
The check-out experience was similar. I was left waiting without explanation until I asked what was happening, only to be told everything was settled and I could leave — with no “thank you” or farewell. I shared my unhappiness with the manager before leaving.
On the positive side, the breakfast team and concierge staff were warm, friendly, and helpful, which I truly appreciated.
Overall, it’s a solid 6/10 for me — worth experiencing once for the facilities, but I’m...
Read moreI stayed at this Wanda Reign for 5 nights in September 2025. There were a few things I really really liked about this hotel - the room was big and comfortable, the AC worked well, the massage chair in the room, the walk-in closet for luggage and clothes. The breakfast buffet was amazing and totally worth it - fresh pastries, fresh juice, and a whole mix of Western and Chinese items.
There were a few things that I kinda disliked about this hotel. I was using an eSim to get around the great firewall and my room had terrible cell reception (despite being on the 37th floor). While laying in bed I could barely get a signal, and I would lose connection repeatedly. To maintain a stable signal I had to sit by the window or go upstairs to the lobby/restaurant area. It genuinely irked me.
I thought the location of this hotel was not amazing. There is a single 7/11 located close by, and a couple local eateries around the corner. Despite what one of the other reviews says about nearby shopping areas, the major shopping centers are a good 20-25 minute walk away. Additionally, the metro stations are a bit far- it's roughly a 12 minute walk to the Jinjiang Hotel station on line 1 or a 14 minute walk to the Xinnanmen station on Line 3/17. In theory these are not terrible commutes but thereality is that this hotel is peripheral Chunxi Road and Tianfu Square, and getting to these...
Read moreThe hotel provides really good service to its customers based on my own experience. I was able to check in at a very early time of the day, 8:30ish which is beyond what most of hotels could do to their guests and certainly surprised me nicely to a great deal. The smile started from their reception desk who also gave me a room upgrade. I was able to get a good rest after an over night long haul flight. There were some minor hiccups due to the maintenance issue, but I was given a room change in a timely manner. The amenities are little dated resulting in some facilities in the room fell apart such as the cover of the knob used as a plug in the bathtub which came off although it didn’t affect its function but made me feel a little uncomfortable in a 5 star hotel. If the hotel maintenance could step up its effort to check the functionality of the amenities, this is a very nice, value for money hotel. It is a walking distance to the nearest subway station. I could even walk to the main city centre and some of the famous tourist attractions from the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed...
