This is my first time staying at a Canopy hotel, and if this is the standard for this brand, then I am pretty impressed, especially with the steadfast and positive attitude by Betty from Housekeeping - she is amazing and always brighten up my evening when she does the turn-down service with her cheerful personality! ||I really like this hotel, but I just can’t get over the fact that they don’t turn on central air conditioning in spring even though temperature hovered around upper teens degrees celscius, and because there are so many great hotels in this city, I do think you will be spoiled for choice.||Location-wise, it is smack right in the middle of Chengdu at Tianfu Square (where a giant Mao statue will greet you).||However, do note know that although being at the ‘center’ of the city, it’s not where the main commercial activities lie as those are one stop away on Chunxi Road, a metro stop away on Line 2. There is also bus stop directly in front of the building where buses 51 and 47 will get you to the famous Tai Koo Li mall and IFC mall on Chunxi Road 4 bus stops away (Alipay app has a transport card that you can sign up and use in cities across China). You can also reach the airport through Metro from this hotel, although that involves a change of lines, and if your Chinese is very limited than I reckon you should just take a cab or Didi (local equivalent of Uber). If you are arriving to this hotel by Metro, just look for exit C in the direction of Chengdu Museum, and take that exit. When you come out, you’ll see the Museum to your right and the hotel’s in the tall building with a Pizza Hut on the ground floor across the road to your left on the exit. ||The hotel lobby is actually located on the 31st floor and rooms are below that, and the one I was given was a corner room, which was actually very spacious. There is a huge separate sitting area with a L shaped sofa, as well as a huge study desk that doubles up as a dining table. The Canopy brand standard includes a Nespresso machine in every room, however, there were only two bottles of water when I got to my room which was too little but a quick call to housekeeping solve the problem. I also realized that the room only had heating on, even though it is already spring, and when I called the front desk, they confirmed that there was no central cooling but they offered to bring a tower fan for ventilation in the room. The windows can be opened slightly, but the road in front is actually a busy intersection and as noise travel upwards, if you’re a light sleeper, like me, it can actually be quite disturbing.||The lighting options in the room are actually very well thought-out and the preset modes were great in complementing the earthy tones of the room decor. The bathroom had a separate, standing shower, a separate toilet with bidet, and a huge soaking tub. Despite the size of the bathroom, it was only a single sink countertop. I do not know what brand of toiletries they provided but they do smell pretty OK and work quite well, though the shampoo and conditioner do leave your hair slightly heavy, if you are particular about the after-wash feel. The toothpaste provided was actually a legit Colgate as well. ||My king size bed actually felt very comfortable and plush, and apparently this is a Canopy branded mattress - if all other Canopy hotels also have this bed then I might be quite sold on this brand. There were also two types of pillows provided - a fluffy one as well as a firmer one. The bed sheets also felt very smooth.||There is only one restaurant on site where breakfast is served, and as a diamond member, I have breakfast included as well as a voucher with a predetermined amount to spend throughout my stay. The spread at breakfast was consistent with Asian hotels’ standards, consisting of both western and Asian options. If you want to grab food outside, there are a variety of F&B outlets within walking distance from this hotel as it is in a very centralised area with a lot of...
Read moreThis is my first time staying at a Canopy hotel, i do like the decor and layout of this hotel - soothing earth tones and spacious layout. BUT they didn't turn on AC despite being season and temperature went up to 20+ Celsius, and only had heating on. From past reviews when people stayed during winter, they also complain that the heating was on too high and the room felt stuffy and warm so I think the whole air ventilation situation is a problem here which is why I’m only giving three stars.

Read moreMy recent stay at this Chengdu hotel was nothing short of exceptional, and I have several reasons to rave about it:To begin with, the hotel's location is undeniably prime, nestled right in the heart of Chengdu. This central position made it incredibly convenient for exploring the city's vibrant offerings. Remarkably, it's also one of the best hotels I've had the pleasure of staying in under $200 USD, offering exceptional value for the discerning traveler. While the check-in lobby proved slightly confusing to navigate, the hotel staff went above and beyond to assist and guide me to the correct destination. Once there, the check-in process was an absolute breeze, and to my delight, they even presented me with a lovely souvenir to take back home as a memento of my stay. The hotel itself exuded a modern and tastefully decorated ambiance, which immediately caught my eye. The room numbers, designed with charming creativity, added a touch of whimsy to the experience. The bathroom featured state-of-the-art amenities, including heated seats, making it an oasis of comfort and luxury. The bed was irresistibly fluffy, and the efficient AC kept the room refreshingly cool during the summer.I particularly appreciated the hotel's thoughtfully curated color scheme, which added to the overall aesthetic appeal. The room's layout was well-planned, maximizing both functionality and comfort. In summary, staying at this Chengdu hotel was an absolute delight, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. With its prime location, exceptional value, modern decor, and well-appointed amenities, it offers an unforgettable experience that you won't...
