Chanced upon this restaurant because I was staying in the hotel next to the mall. Attracted by the signage touting it as a Michelin starred restaurant for a few years but when questioned, the staff explained it was their sister restaurant that achieved the Michelin star. Nevertheless the restaurant looked very impressive from outside (carefully laid out table with wine glasses etc) and there was a running video of their signature dishes, eg dongpo rou, crab. After determining they were not simply a mala hotpot restaurant, we went for dinner. The starters were special for me: spicy nuts and cold marinated eggplants and a cold gummy beverage we normally associated with dessert (white fungus). Somehow, my daughter ordered 2 chilli laden dishes, the beef and pork intestine and stir fried sliced pork. Mind you, they were well executed but they were quite “common” dishes for us. Then the crab came in a big bowl. Wow, it really bowled us over (pardon the pun). The crab was dissected (deshelled) until it was so easy to eat and the sauce was so peppery and flavourful. Each piece has meat attached and came off easily. Adding to this gluttony, a humongous man tou (steam bun) arrived and we tore it up to dip in the crab sauce. Nothing was left.
