Echic Hotel — Hotel in Guangzhou City

If you aren't a fan of cigarettes smell, look elsewhere. The hotel has failed to find a replacement room that doesn't reek of the dreaded smell. I asked for a full refund of total 5 nights. They only offered to refund me 4 nights as they claimed that we have already used the room.

We haven't even spent an hour in the room. We quickly dropped our bags and left within 10 mins for a shopping mall. We then returned several hours later only to be welcomed by the smell. We tried to vent it out the smell just kept on coming out of the AC itself.

The staff offered to upgrade us to a bigger room with caveat. That is, we'd have to move to a smaller room for the remaining days. We ofc declined. They could have just let us stayed in that bigger room throughout our stay but nah.

Oh well I'll make sure that Booking.com knows about this lack of accountability. I appreciate the staff offerring the 4 nights refund but it's understandable that she couldn't do 5 nights since she was only a...

Great location. Front desk staff were helpful, but spoke only Chinese so make sure you have translator app handy if you don’t speak the language. Hotel is on a busy road, but near subway so convenient to get around Guangzhou. Fridge didn’t work very well and room occasionally had a smokey smell. There’s a small breakfast area but cannot comment as did’t have the breakfast. There was no window so if you would like room with a window make sure you specify at check in. All rooms are at one floor at level 2. The lift only runs between level 1 and level 2. the reception is at level 1 but it is lower stair of level 1 (about 10 steps) and it is not convenient If you have big/heavy luggages, it is hard to bring them up to the lift level. there is a slide for you to pull up the luggages alongside of the stair to reach to the lift level.
