It's an intended 3 star hotel where the long long main street Shangxia Jiu Road is around the corner. This hotel is near the end of the Shang (which means upper part) Jiu Road. There are countless food and fashion/shoes shops along the street and I enjoy the good but cheap food. The three famous and old Chinese restaurants are all on this street where you must try the dim sum breakfast. ||||The nearest metro station is in 10 to 15 mins walking distance. Price is good, RMB208 on Saturday. Room clean, basic, with kettle, fridge, hair dryer and toiletries. But I found the ventilation was not so good as the air outlet was right downward to the ground instead of horizontally to the mid air of the room. Moreover there was a mild "click, click" sound when the air con was operating, though it didn't disturb my sleeping. The wall of the toilet facing the bed is a glass so that I could watch TV when I was inside the toilet. You may roll down the curtain but I found that the curtain is not wide enough to cover the whole glass wall !! So it would be too embarrasing if you are not staying with your lover! ||||Staff normal. Some staff speaks English ok and I met guests from Hawaii during my stay. Overall this hotel is worth trying, though I would say hotels with similar price and quality are everywhere in Guangzhou. So I may not go again but would try those chain inns next time when I...
Read moreSpent a day here during a flight transit on a China Southern flight. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The receptionists had passable English proficiency, but the rest of the staff didn't. Inspite of that they were very helpful and accommodating when I needed to use Google translate to communicate. It worked surprisingly well too. Had little to no difficulty. ||The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the rooms were clean and well stocked with all necessary amenities. The bathroom with the glass window to the bedroom shocked me a little, but thank heavens for the automatic shutters that you can use to create the wall of privacy needed. On the plus side, if you're staying alone or with a partner, then you can watch TV from the...
Read moreThe hotel is about a 10-12 minute walk to the nearest Metro station which we were okay with as we enjoy seeing the neighborhood and visiting local shops. I gave it a 3 only because it's not the ideal location if you plan to walk to and from the Metro with your luggages. We booked an inside room with no windows because it was marked non-smoking. However, the room had a smell which we were told is from humidity. There's an in-room air filtration unit which didn't really help a lot. Someone in our group booked a smoking room with window and his room turned out smelling better. Overall, a good value neighborhood hotel if you keep your...
