As the title suggests, the hotel is located in a mixed-use building with multiple businesses, and the room illustrations are at least 10 years old or heavily edited. Not only do the images not match the reality, but after booking a "luxury room with window (king bed)," the hotel claimed at check-in that we had only reserved a "boutique room without window" and required an additional payment to move into the originally booked room. After paying the extra fee, we had to pass through a shared elevator and walk down a hallway with an old carpet (which nearly triggered my allergies and smelled heavily of smoke) to reach what was said to be the upgraded room. Upon entering the room, we were struck by a strong damp and smoky smell, alongside outdated and stuffy facilities, which completely diminished our desire to stay. However, as we were in a hurry to meet friends for dinner, we left our luggage and departed the room.
After dinner, upon returning to the hotel to check out, the front desk even attempted to charge a cleaning fee, but since none of the facilities (including the bed) were used by us, they relented. I must commend a young male staff member at the front desk for his excellent service attitude, and give them an extra star for it, even though the other staff members were not helpful (including simply opening the package room to search when asked about a package; no accountability for potential losses). Due to these issues, we immediately checked out and moved to another hotel. Meanwhile, I thank Agoda's customer service for attempting to secure compensation, though the hotel refused a refund (about TWD 3,550 for two nights). For tourists visiting Guangzhou, I recommend staying at one of Huazhu Group's hotels to avoid such unpleasant experiences. 塊陶!! 這價錢隨便華住會旗下都好他好幾倍!!霉味、潮濕味、煙味超濃,而且設施很老舊,電梯還跟一大堆有的沒的商家共用,品質很差,唯一好處就是離步行街很近吧......
Read moreI had a great experience at this hotel. The location is excellent. just 500 meters from Nanjing Road. I walked to and from the night market every day during my stay in Guangzhou.
There’s a convenience store and a couple of small restaurants right at the bottom of the building — including a noodle shop and a crispy pork & BBQ pork rice place. The staff didn’t speak much English, but they were very helpful and always tried their best. (On my last day, I had trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi because I kept entering the wrong password — the staff even came up to my room to help me fix it.)
I gave this hotel 5 stars mainly because I was so impressed that they upgraded me to this room type. The building is old but the room was spacious and very clean, with full amenities. The towels smelled fresh and clean — which is very important to me! The room layout was like two rooms connected with a door in between. All the lighting was touch-controlled, and the main bed was huge and incredibly comfortable.
Overall, I was very impressed and would definitely...
