There is a GIONEE HOTEL at level 10, sharing the same building as Mercure Hotel at Beijing Pedestrian Street in Guangzhou which is totally horrible and unrealiable. Totally unprofessional, asked us to change room every single night during our 6 nights booking with the hotel!!! The hotel promised and allocated to us an agreed room arrangement (Change room 1 time out of the 6 nights) at the time of booking, on arrival they told us we have to change room every night!!! We argued and insisted that we did not booked for such a lousy arrangement and refused to shift room every single night, they than agreed with us on another new room arrangement where 2 out of the 4 rooms need to change room for maximum of 2 nights and the rest to change room for a maximum of 1 night. However, they can very innocently denied what they have agreed with us in the morning and insisted in the evening that all our 4 rooms need to change room every night again !! They even invalidated my room access card and gave my room (with all my luggages and belongings still in the room and the room not cleaned up) to another person!! What logic are all these nonsense of room changing every night and incapable of honouring their words??? It was such a stressful and horrible stay with GIONEE HOTEL on our holiday which was supposed to be happy and relaxing!!! We decided to move out and change hotel on day 3 as we see pointless talking with them and to continue to battle and argue with this stupid hotel every evening, which thankfully was quickly settled by our tour agency in China. Our pre-planned and early day tour on day 3 (all already paid for), had to be cancelled and burned as we were mentally snd physically drained and exhausted with all the stress and NONSENSE from this stupid GIONEE HOTEL. Please remember, DO NOT book your stay with GIONEE HOTEL Guangzhou .... they are totally unreliable, cannot be trusted and...
Read moreThe hotel is located in the heart of everything. From the main door, the left side is teemall shopping complex, street stalls selling F&B, souvenirs, etc. Gaodi Street (undergarments & shoes wholesale markets). Tianzi wharf for pearl river night tour just 13 mins walk away. On the right side is the famous Beijing Road Pedestrian Walk & Dafo temple. The hotel is a 30-storey building. Lobby at the ground floor. The 2nd - 12th floor is commercial. 13th - 28th is guess room. 29th is the hotel breakfast area. 30th is laundry, meeting & gym. Required room card for lift to access 13th floor onwards. The room is clean with basic amenities. I like the large TV with free channels to watch & the smart toilet bowl. The shower water pressure is strong. Just the overhead shower will drip cold water on my head if i shower more than 10 mins. All the hotels i visited have the same issue. The mattress is firm, but the pillow is too soft. I stayed for 4N, hotel cleaner will come to clean up the room every day & provide 2 bottles of 500ml minerals water. As for hotel breakfast, the food is variety with a bit of western & more local foods. Porridge, rice, noddles & soups, dessert, salad, fruits, etc. It would be nice if the hotel provided dimsum for breakfast. The funny part is that the hotel only provides Western fork, small chinese porcelain spoon & wood chopsticks. Weird combination 😆The hotel also provides a weighing scale machine for lugagge at the lobby next to the registration counter. Check in & check out is a breeze. You need to carry luggage until the roadside to reach a taxi as cars are unable to get in.Overall, it's a satisfactory stay....
Read morePrime location for food and shopping. The hotel is just opposite Beijing Road Teemall, which made it super accessible to all amenities. There is also a Chagee on the ground floor of the hotel. The hotel team - from the concierge, front desk to housekeeping - were all incredibly friendly, polite and keen to help. An added perk were the cute little robots that delivered items to us. The room was very clean, spacious and well equipped with free drinks. The staff were very kind to provide ear plugs as they mentioned there was some construction going on in the building. However, we were not disturbed by any noise whatsoever. The hotel provided toilet amenities like toothbrushes, shaving kits, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and a hairdryer. A few tips for fellow travellers who plan to stay at Mercure:- As it is located on a pedestrian road, you will need to lug your suitcases to the hotel. There are some large stone bollards blocking cars from coming onto the pedestrian street. Just a reminder to be careful when walking to the hotel with your suitcases, especially for the elderly as the road can get very crowded- Shower and toilet are separated by a glass window, which can be a bit see through (just a tip for those who are travelling with friends) - For those looking to order items from taobao, try to order a few days in advance (especially for items arriving from other cities) and contact the hotel in advance if you have any questions. They are very friendly and keen to help with collectionOverall a wonderful stay with Mercure Guangzhou Beijing Road Pedestrian...
