The amenities are of very inferior quality - cheap and unpleasant scent; the conditioning shampoo causes hair to be dry. Room slippers also have a very bad odour once open from the packaging and also the cheapest version of hotel room slippers.2. Housekeeping team do not greet guests and do not smile. Asked for assistance to heat up food and the male middle aged staff looks very unwilling to assist.3. I have stayed for five nights and have observed the Housekeeping team forgetting to replenish tissue box / put a new toilet roll during our stay. 4. I have been disturbed several times during the morning by the housekeeping staff who knocked on my door very hard (expecting me to answer) and asked what time I am leaving my room. It seems that they are eager to complete their job early and perhaps get an early dismissal.5. Nothing delightful throughout our stay. Upon check out, no “thank you” from the receptionist, service levels of this hotel is horrid.6. Shower system is faulty, again, inferior bathroom fittings. The faucet for the sink is so poorly designed! Didn’t bother to lodge a complain to the bad service staffs as I doubt they can provide any...

The floormanager handled the situation promptly and professionally, offering us a free room upgrade as a solution. Stayed 3 nights at the hotel during a retreat which was also held there. It’s true the hotel can do with an upgrade in many areas. However, at the rate we were charged, I believe it is value for money due to its central position. I was at the Westin Hotel 2 nights before I checked in here and would gladly choose to stay here due to its proximity to everything one would need.||Food, shopping and several tourist spots are very close by, not to mention that the subway entrance is right by its side. There’s even a halal restaurant at the back street of the hotel. A 5 minute walk in front of the hotel will lead you towards the river front where you can board a cruise down the river or enjoy a nice cool beer at one of the pubs.||If you intend to shop in Guangzhou, do remember to bring sufficient RMBs. Most of the shops nearby do not accept foreign credit cards. Only some of the larger banks have dedicated ATMs for foreign bank cards but that comes at a relatively high exchange rates.
