We stayed in the most expensive room in the hotel (rooftop suite with the bathtub). It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either - it's pretty worn in parts. The were strange stains all over the walls (it looked like someone had been fighting and throwing drinks at each other, or kicking a dirty football against the walls), and the bottom of the sofas and chairs pretty dirty too (most of these could be cleaned with a deep clean) and much of the furniture was worn with scuffs. It looks like the guests that stayed there recently just had their feet all over the sofas and stuff. The shower head doesn't move which would make it hard to shower if you wanted to wash your hair. Breakfast was very Chinese style but it looked good (we weren't hungry though and just grabbed a coffee). The mini bar was basic but there was lots of bottled water available. There was old water in a milk jug too, which made me feel like it hand' t been cleaned properly. We also had to give the bath a good clean ourselves before we used it as it hadn't been cleaned properly (there were some black grease marks on the bath which only build up over time of not being cleaned well). We cleaned this off ourselves before using it and gave the whole bath a good scrub with soap. I grew up with horses so I'm by no means a germaphobe, but it was grubby even by my standards. It wasn't disgusting, but not what I'd expect at this price point. The staff were mostly friendly however we acted like we didn't know Chinese to see how they acted and they were a little impolite at times (just a little, but this is kind of common in China). As an example, we asked for some champagne glasses and in Chinese one girl said to the other 'I don't know where the champagne glasses are, just give them wine glasses'. It's small, and champagne glasses did turn up in the end, but the tone was almost irritated and it felt a little rude in context. Is it rude if they think you can't understand? I don't know! We also had to request hair and toothbrushes as they weren't in the room. I feel a little petty writing it, but at 3000 RMB per night I would expect a pretty seamless, high end experience. We had a great time, but the room needs a little TLC and...
Read moreStay in this hotel for several years in a row, and tracked how their service was getting worse each time.|You will definitely get very fast WiFi with no limits to use Viber. Some places do not let you use Viber. |Rooms are big and very high tech. Seems the architects tried to omit corners in the interior.|Surprisingly, this year changed USD without any problems and very fast. Before it took about 5-7 min to fill all the papers, make copy of your passport etc.|Bad points are: -furniture and appliances are getting out of order,|-breackfast is very poor. You have very few options for choice. Could be a problem if you stay for a week or longer. |- reception desk. Did a great job during ckeck-in, fast and without odd questions, but...the check-out was a epic fail. |They give you an invoice without a seal, so you have to insist and ask from them additional receipt on official blank with the seal. I had my deposit of 600$, and to pay for the room 500$ was enough. So I asked the girl to get the payment from my deposit. So she was about to change all 600$ to RMB, which I did not ask her to do...at the end, i just took the entire amount of deposit, and gave her back only 500$ to change for RMB, which she could use to close my bill...but it was quite a complicated logical task for reception girl.|And the worst fail, which I faced twice in this hotel during check-out, was that reception girls are shifting to another clients, if they are Chinese, even without finishing the procedure of your check-out. And, you have to wait for another 5-10 min, or influence them to finish your business first, as you were first...|I guess they have a rule to solve Chinese client's inquiries first, and other nationalities could wait for...
Read moreOverall I had a decent experience at this hotel, but the service was lacking, which is a shame since the property is very nice. When you check into a 5 star hotel, there are certain expectations and unfortunately this hotel did not meet them. Upon arrival there is usually a doorman, helping you with your luggage, opening doors and showing you to the reception. There were none when I arrived. That's fine, not really an issue. However after I dragged my luggage to the reception the staff ignored me for a solid minute while I was standing right in front of them. Not exactly a five star welcome. Of course the room wasn't ready so I had to wait 15-20 minutes to get my key. The room was nice and clean with a great view, but had a bit of a strange layout where the sink was in the hallway and the shower in the corner so there's no real place to change clothes unless you close the curtains. It was raining a lot during my stay but the staff were kind enough to lend me a broken umbrella. Better than nothing I guess. That might actually have been her personal umbrella so I appreciate the gesture nonetheless. During my stay I had a strange feeling of not really being welcome, which I've never had at a hotel in China before. Upon checkout the staff tried to pressure me multiple times to give a five star review and include certain names in the review which I did not appreciate. That needs to be earned. If this hotel improves its service it would be 5 star no doubt, but until then it's not really...
