2nd time in china,chose this hotel based on the great location,which is about 1km from the bund.|Took the Maglev from Pudong airport to the city.then decided to take a metered taxi from the station.was supposed to be a 20-minute drive,driver took us on a 1 hour 'tour' of shanghai!! Use DIDI at all times! no translation issues and very reasonable rates.Booked a DIDI back to airport at 5am,had one in a minute!|Anyway,there was confusion at check-in with regards to breakfast.Seems Agoda used a 3rd party to book and breakfast wasnt included.After few calls and emails,Agoda refunded me partially via Agoda cash.We did try the buffet breakfast our first morning here......all I can say is.......eat elswhere.....lets just say that all that 'hawking' you hear about.....is legit....|Room was of decent size and had partial view of the bund,which was great.Bed was comfy but air-conditioner was stuck at 25 celcius! wouldnt go cooler as it was programmed to go no lower.Staff were not proficient in English.Not being part of an international chain did have its drawbacks.CNY 500 deposit was required at check-in. Arrival was during the last weekend of China’s week long national holiday.||||The large room that overlooked the front of the hotel contained twin beds. The carpet was damaged with that appeared to be cigarette burns and the upholstery of the chair was unacceptably stained. The hotel is floodlit at night and it was unfortunate that the curtains did not meet properly in the centre. The beds were uncomfortably hard. ||||We attempted to eat at the hotel’s Belle Vue buffet restaurant, only to be told that there would be a two hour wait for a table. The only available dining option at the hotel was the Ichibanya Japanese restaurant. The food was reasonably good and was of a high presentation standard. The staff’s command of English was minimal.||||Room service was ridiculously slow. It took four attempts to order a sandwich. The first three attempts resulted in my being cut off. It then took one hour and 15 minutes for the sandwich to be delivered to the room and immediate cash payment...
