Ji Hotel — Hotel in Shanghai

Location is super good, come out of hotel turn left is the exit 5 of Yu Garden metro exit. Cleanliness of hotel is alright, we did not get any room servicing, however the cleaning team will put a bag of toiletries (toilet paper, tissue pack, room slipper, water, toothbrush) outside our room every night.It was mid March, weather in Shanghai is still cold, so the centralised aircon is off and rooms can get quite stuffy, had to sleep without blanket because it’s too warm. However the most annoying thing of this hotel is the smoke smell we get in our room. People are smoking in their rooms even though it’s a non-smoking hotel, the smell came into our room through the ventilation vents, it was so bad that we called the concierge and they sent someone up to check. Once we open our door for the person he immediately can smell it and he asked the concierge if there was other available rooms for us to change into. So we had to pack everything up and change to a further room like at 10pm ish (but the good thing is the room was bigger). After we got the new room, it was all good for 3 nights until our last night the smoke smell came back -_- Price is good for the location, but I probably WILL NOT STAY here again. Would rather pay more to get a better experience at a more prestige hotel. Btw you have to request for toothbrush at the counter, they dont provide it...

We didn’t expect much from this hotel, since we’ve book a room without a window just to be as close to the metro station as possible, but the stay there was quite disappointing. The room smelled of cigarettes (it was a non-smoking room, but I guess the neighbour forgot to read the sign), breakfast was extremely chaotic (too many people, so we had nowhere to seat and at one point people where just eating standing up) with poor food selection and the walls in the room where a bit too thin for our taste (witnessing a loud argument from a next door room around 2 am in the morning it’s just not our cup of tea). Nevertheless the staff was really helpful and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible, they’ve even arranged a late check-out for us. The location is super good and it is less than 1 min walking distance to subway. The subway can lead to east nanjing station and it is quite popular among Thai people. The layout in the room is good, got total of 4 laundry machine and dryer machines. If you come early morning and late afternoon so you don’t have to wait for the queue.The room that booked got no window and it smell cigarette all over the room, the hotel provide small fan to every no window type but cannot help and we cannot open the heater since the control cannot used while we cannot breath when we turned off the heater. Hotel didn’t help us much so that they offer to upgrade with extra charge for the opposite room so that we can breath. The staff cannot speak English, I recommend to download Google translate to...
