The good:||- The location||- Good price, given the location||- Clean room. ||||The not so good:||- Bed was a bit stiff for my taste... found this to also be the case at a more expensive holiday inn, in a far off neighborhood, so maybe this is just a China thing.||- 200 RMB cash deposit was a bit of a surprise when I checked in, and was a challenge because I had yet to find an ATM that would accept foreign ATM cards (suggestion: look for the Citibank on the bund promenade ~2 blocks from here)||- Power, internet & phone went out for half a day. This sucked when I had tried about 12 different ATMs at this point with no luck, and was trying to skype call my bank to see if the issue was on their end (I later found it wasn't). This is probably not an everyday occurrence, but really put a damper on my stay. ||- Staff's english is pretty limited, which isn't surprising. Just don't expect to have a conversation outside of their prepared checkin procedures. Have a cell phone app downloaded in advance for those...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights. When we checked in, we were told we were upgraded. We went up to our room and it was not clean. There was still garbage from other patrons, the carpet was stained, dirty, and had hair all over it. We all wore sandals the whole time. The whole bathroom was glass so you could see right in it, they put up newspaper so you had “some” privacy when showering or using the toilet. There were also bugs flying around all the time. By far, the worst hotel we stayed in throughout our 16 day tour of China. ||Staff was helpful with directions and did their best to communicate with us. The location is good also. ||I would not stay here again until they do some major cleaning/pest control. The whole hotel also stunk very bad of cigarette smoke. Make sure you ask for a...
Read moreWe stayed at the elegance bund hotel while visiting shanghai. Location is the main selling point for this hotel. It is withing walking distance from The Bund/ East Nanjing Road etc. The window in our room opened into a staircase which was quite noisy when people walked past. Rooms were neat and spacious enough. There are many restaurants selling western food and Chinese food nearby. Convenience Store just across the road from the hotel. Staff were helpful, friendly and spoke enough english to answer questions and assist. Overall a good choice. Good value for money for this hotel. Good for those on budget but still looking for a decemt level of comfort. I would definately reccomemd staying at the...
