This time, during my short return to China from studying abroad, I had an excellent stay at the New Jinjiang Hotel.||Front Desk: The check-in process was seamless, allowing me to quickly get to my room without any delays. All of the staff are Shanghainese locals. They were extremely polite and professional, greeting guests from all over the world with a smile. Their friendly attitude and willingness to help made the check-in experience very pleasant and warm.||Guest Room: I stayed on the 32nd floor. The room was very spacious and clean, reflecting the hotel's high standards and attention to detail. Unfortunately, I was too busy enjoying the room before I could take some pictures in its best condition. There was a living room separated by a door from the main bedroom. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job, ensuring that everything was in perfect order. I especially appreciated their respect for personal privacy and personalized cleaning service, which made my stay more thoughtful. The housekeeping staff were always courteous, ensuring that I felt comfortable and at home.||Breakfast Restaurant: The breakfast offerings were abundant and diverse, combining various classic breakfasts from the East and West. For those who enjoy Western breakfasts, there were omelets available. As a student studying abroad, I couldn’t really handle Western breakfasts anymore, so I had small wontons, soup noodles, soy milk, and plain congee on three different mornings. My taste preference is light, and sometimes I find hotel dishes too greasy and salty, but Semillon (New Jinjiang's breakfast restaurant) caters to different tastes and preferences. You could add your own ingredients as you like. The ingredients used were fresh and of high quality, making every meal delightful. From freshly baked pastries to various hot dishes, there was something for everyone. The dining area was clean and bright, providing a pleasant atmosphere to start the day.||Location: The hotel's location is excellent, near Huaihai Middle Road, a prime area in Shanghai. Just the trendy restaurants at the hotel entrance would be enough to keep me satisfied for a week. It’s near Metro Lines 13, 1, and 10, making it convenient to access various attractions and facilities. The transportation options were very convenient, allowing you to easily explore the city. Whether for business trips or leisure travel, the hotel's central location was an ideal starting point.||40th Floor Villa Executive Lounge: The executive lounge on the 40th floor was a highlight of my stay. It offered a panoramic view of the city, which was truly breathtaking. The dishes served in the executive lounge were exquisite, reflecting a high standard of culinary excellence. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, making it an ideal place to escape from the daily hustle and bustle. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful moment.||All of this for SUCH a REASONABLE price. This trip...
Read moreAlthough the building and foyer are stunning, our first impressions were not very good. We arrived quite late and check in seemed to take an absolute age, with the staff staring intently at the screen with furrowed brows for a good 10 minutes, as if someone wanting to stay at their hotel was something they'd never had to deal with before. Eventually we found the room. It was spacious and comfortable but very dated. The shower head was loose and had clearly being spraying water at the ceiling for some time, as all the paint was peeling off into the bath. The mini-bar had a menu, but no contents. Which was OK as it didn't work anyway. Neither did the hairdryer. And everything shut well before 10.00pm so we couldn't even get a drink. No matter, there are lots of inviting little bars across the street and a shop just down the road.|Breakfast was underwhelming. Loads of stuff on offer but I found very little of it appetising. The Chinese dishes were all pretty bland and vegetable based, the fried rice bowl was always empty for some reason, the western food was American-style bacon (ugh) and those horrible over-processed chicken sausages that always look raw, and the juices were not real fruit juice. Again, no matter, there was plenty of egg and bread and there were stations with people cooking stuff so you could probably get something better if you spoke Mandarin. And at least these was proper coffee. And milk.|Day 2 was better. We reported the problems in the room and they were fixed straight away. They even repainted the bathroom ceiling. |That evening we ate in the revolving restaurant, which was stunning and well worth the brief moment of panic when I couldn't find the toilets because they'd moved. Extensive menu and both food and service were excellent, except... I get the local custom is bringing dishes out one by one, but we were sat with a bowl of barbecue pork belly and nothing else of a good 15 minutes, which was odd. Maybe they could make sure the rice comes out at the same time, even just for us westerners? Seemed like good value though.|Day 3 and checkout was easy. I'd grown to like the place by then. And at the end of the day for the price, by western standards, it was pretty...
Read moreGeorge Yang is, without a doubt, the best manager I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. During a recent situation where my daugther accidentally left her bag in a taxi, George immediately stepped in to help. With remarkable efficiency, he searched the video footage and reported the issue to the police, contacted the taxi company, and coordinated the search process. Thanks to his determination and proactive approach, the bag was found and returned to us in less than two hours—a feat that seemed impossible at the time.
George’s exceptional communication skills, particularly his fluency in English, played a significant role in resolving the matter so quickly. Beyond that, his calm demeanor, quick thinking, and strategic problem-solving set him apart as someone who truly excels in his role. His dedication and ability to handle such a challenging situation with ease left a lasting impression on us.
Thank you, George, for going above and beyond. You turned a potentially stressful experience into a memorable example of outstanding leadership and service. We are truly grateful...
