⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.5/5 – Elegant Retreat with Impeccable Service I stayed at the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai during my business trip, and it was a delightful blend of Japanese precision and Shanghai charm. While not flawless, the experience was memorable for its serene atmosphere and attentive staff. First Impressions: The lobby exudes timeless elegance with its floral arrangements and soft lighting. Check-in was efficient, though the front desk could get busy during peak hours. A welcome tea was offered—a nice touch! Room & Comfort: My Deluxe Room was spacious and spotless, with a plush bed and a stunning city view. The decor felt slightly dated (classic 5-star rather than modern chic), but the amenities were top-tier: a deep soaking tub, high-quality linens, and a quiet HVAC system. Housekeeping was meticulous. Location: Nestled near Shaanxi Road, the hotel is steps from the French Concession’s tree-lined streets, with easy access to Nanjing Road (10-min walk) and Xintiandi. The South Shaanxi Road Metro (Line 1/10) is a 5-minute stroll away—ideal for exploring. Dining & Service: - Yamazato (Japanese restaurant): ★★★★★! The sushi counter was transcendent, with flown-in ingredients. Pricey but worth it. - Garden Café: Solid international buffet, though the spread could use more local flavors. - Service: Staff were polished and proactive—they remembered my coffee preference by day two. Minor hiccup with slow room service one evening. Amenities: The indoor pool was a highlight (spotless and rarely crowded), but the gym equipment needs updating. The garden courtyard is a hidden gem for morning tea. Constructive Notes: - Wi-Fi was occasionally sluggish. - Some corridors felt worn compared to the renovated lobby. Verdict: A refined, slightly traditional hotel with superb service and location. Perfect for travelers who value tranquility over flashy modernity. Would return! Note: If you need adjustments (e.g., stricter 5-star praise or focus on leisure/business),...

Read moreIn the last two years, I spent 1-2 days in this hotel almost every month. I have only good things to say about it.|First: the position. The hotel is situated in the heart of Shanghai, in the wonderful neighborhood of the former French Concession, on the elegant avenue of Huai Hai (the Parisian Avenue Montaigne of Shanghai). It comprises the building of the former French Club, with its majestic ball hall, with its Belle Epoque architecture. For those who saw the movie;" The last emperor", this is the place where the balls were taking place in the 20's and 30's, and where the ball scene in the film was really turned. It is exactly the same today, if you plan your marriage in Shanghai, you may rent it...|In the front of the hotel, it is a park (also of the previous French club) - it is rare to have a private park in the center of a huge city like Shanghai.|The hotel is a relative new tower with beautiful, tasted-furnished rooms; maybe a little smaller than in other 5-star hotels, but the quality/price ratio is very advantageous. A working table with more points for your computers is a plus for those in business.|a good health center|elegant business room, elegant lobby rooms, elegant bar (all in the previous French club)|A wonderful service, I don't know the names of all the helpful personal (front desk, housekeeping, concierge, etc., etc.) who makes you stay perfect, maybe I can cite Mr. Li Jin, The Rooms Director.|The first time when I was the guest of the hotel, I had some problems with the breakfast (very rich American, Japanese and Chinese breakfast, but a short variety for a guest from continental Europe), I brought it to the attention of the hotel director, and since then I have been satisfied with the food for a continental European taste too.|i will continue to stay at this hotel every time when coming...
