Metropark Hotel Shenzhen — Hotel in Shenzhen

While conveniently located near the metro, the hotel itself is a little dated and in dire need of a complete renovation. Bear in mind that only the reception staff can speak English.

The room has a small kitchenette with a fridge and a microwave with only one electric socket. In order to use one, you need to unplug the other. There are two television sets, one being the LCD tv in the living room and the other being an 1990s old CRT television in the bedroom.

Basic amenities were missing from the room so had to call housekeeping twice, only to be delivered the wrong items two hours later.

The restaurant is on the 11/F and the staff doesn't speak English either. While the food was delivered as ordered, we found the portions to be rather small relative to the norm in China. They also offer breakfast buffet for a price but it is very limited and lacks in basics (eggs, freshly brewed coffee).

The hotel only has two elevators and they are very crowded all the time. On the plus side, the hotel lobby and public areas...

Overall the stay was great. The staff had given us a free upgrade to a family suite as well. Hotel only provides breakfast (not sure if it will change later on), food selection is decent. Room was as per description, ample amenities provided. At the moment, the shopping mall beside is undergoing renovations so shops are limited. However, a short walk away to Dongmen Pedestrian Street will give you more options. Access to hotel is superb, directly linked with Shaibu subway station. Nearby access to LuoHu and Futian means its easy to head to GuangZhou or Hong Kong as well.Do note that the location of hotel is on the right of the city, so if you wish to go to attractions like WIndows of the World, Ping An Observation Deck, it will take at least 30 minutes travel time. Overall experience were satisfactory. The hotel is conveniently located. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable. The amenities provided were adequate, and the housekeeping service was prompt and efficient.However, I did encounter a significant issue with the ventilation. Despite staying in a non-smoking room, cigarette fumes were quite noticeable and unpleasant. It seems the smoke from other areas of the hotel was seeping into the room. Additionally, I was shocked to see guests smoking in common areas, including one instance where a guest boarded the lift from B1 with a lit cigarette.I believe the hotel should enforce stricter non-smoking policies in common areas and improve their ventilation system to ensure a more comfortable stay in future.
