Four Points by Sheraton Barranquilla — Hotel in Barranquilla

I once again had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Four Points in Barranquilla. It is no surprise that I keep returning to the Four Points when I stay in Barranquilla. This hotel always exceeds my expectations for quality, comfort and friendliness. Everything about this hotel is impeccable. From the moment of your arrival you are made to feel like the most important guest. Check in is simple and inviting. My rooms have always been well kept, clean and inclusive of every amenity. I simply love the refreshing rain shower. You will feel rejuvenated and invigorated. The breakfast is delicious and filling. All the food that I enjoyed was quite tasty. Both the pool and the fitness areas were relaxing and beneficial. The location is excellent, safe, and close to restaurants and shopping. The real greatness behind the success of this hotel however is the staff. They are more than welcoming, they are genuinely sincere in their appreciation of your presence. They take every opportunity to serve you with an extra level of attention. The incredibly big and warm smiles from every staff member are delightful to see and their interest in your satisfaction comes through with an enthusiasm that can't help but make you feel welcomed. Behind this amazing team is a management that thoroughly supports an environment of hospitality that takes a simple hotel stay to a place of perfection. I stayed at Carnaval time and the hotel was transformed into a festive home to the spirit of joy (Pura Alegría)! Each day included music, costumes, and cultural experiences that promoted the feeling of Carnaval everywhere in the hotel. The fun was constant. I also had the opportunity to host visitors at the hotel and the staff and management were simple extraordinary in there willingness to make that visit special. My visitors were welcomed with the same grandeur of hospitality as if they were hotel guests themselves. I will forever be grateful for the gracious manner in which they were received. I have been an SPG GOLD member since 2008 and I always arrange my travels around SPG hotels since they are my prefferred hotels.

We stayed at this hotel for 11 days and we reserved 2 rooms with over 3 months ahead of our stay. I notified the hotel when I booked that I needed connecting rooms, and I also called 1 week prior to arrival to confirm. We are 2 adults, a child, and an infant they do need to connect. When we got to the hotel they said that they did not have a room available that connected which really upset me, and after they saw how upset I was, magically a room appeared to be available.

The first 2 nights the air conditiner in my kids room did not work so we did not use the room until the 3rd day (We still got charged). I did expect the hotel to provide a points credit since we did not use the room, however they just DID NOT CARE. They offered me 750 points which I told them they can keep for themselves, what an insult.

As far as for the rooms, they are amazing. The non-management employees were amazin.g. Food was amazing.

I recommend the hotel, however I do suggest something to be done about management, it is not what you would...

This hotel is excellent. It needs a bit of polishing in terms of acknowledging SPG status members. We arrived very early and the hotel told us no rooms were available at the moment. So unless something drastic changed as we had checked the day prior and there was plenty of availability... So we think they had a certain type of room to match the rate we had and they only reviewed if any of those were available. Point is there was no extra effort to check us in early. In their defense very few checked out prior to 11am. Other than that the service from all staff was excellent, Maids were superb! Pool area was good and IMO the best is staff from restaurant and from bar. BTW the bar is awesome with really cold draft beer. Rooms are regular 4 points Sheraton room which are good and I feel we got really good value rate for the hotel. The location is also great with plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance and located in a safe neighborhood.
