Not a 5 star hotel unfortunately. Definitely comparable to any three-star hotel in North America. Basic, clean, comfortable, but worn down and out of date decor.
Breakfast was a complete disappointment on both Friday morning and Saturday morning. I would always arrive about 1 hour before the breakfast closed and could never find a clean table or enough items in the buffet. Items were never replenished after 9:00 a.m. My photos are of the much improved buffet on a Monday morning. I definitely had a significantly better experience on the Monday morning at breakfast. I could actually find a clean table and received very good made to order eggs.
Suite review: Upon booking, it says that you will get a Terrace with a view, but there is definitely no view. I was on the third floor and all I could see was other buildings.
You can hear a lot of noise from the street and from other hotel rooms next door and down the hall, but the noise is definitely improved by closing the bedroom door in the suite.
Tiny bathroom. Thin NH branded towels. NH branded tiny bottles of shampoo, shower gel and lotion. The face towels were never replaced during daily cleaning. There are no towel racks other than inside the shower stall itself. The housekeeper did a good job in the room otherwise.
Several things were broken or not working properly and the electrician fixed the electrical outlet near the bed promptly, but I had to ask twice over 2 days for the plumbing sink tap spray problem to be fixed. Plumber was nice enough to also fix the shower head which sprayed problematically.
Much of the furniture was chipped or worn down. The Nespresso machine had no-name capsules provided (instead of Nespresso capsules). There is a mini bar fridge with drinks: therefore, space to put your own water or food in the fridge. You get one free small bottle of Hatsu water per day, and tea bags vary. There is a small closet with about six wood hangers and a couple of small drawers and a safe. The queen size bed was basic but not uncomfortable.
I stayed for 4 nights in the suite. I don't think I would stay here again unless they renovate and redecorate.
There is no hairdryer, iron, ironing board, slippers, robe or hair conditioner provided in suite. When I asked, I was only given a hairdyer and iron,...
Read moreWARNING: If you're a tourist, make sure to check your charges as soon as you arrive. This hotel is disregarding Colombian regulations regarding the IVA sales tax. Foreigner's, are not required to pay the IVA, but this is the first hotel where I've been charged incorrectly, which I consider theft. I also contacted the hotel director to resolve the issue, but she ignored my request.
Upon checkout, I pointed out the IVA charge was incorrect, and the front desk agent insisted it was correct despite my proof of being a U.S. resident. Even then, they refused to correct the mistake.
Additionally, this hotel claims to be five-star, but the reality is far from it. The rooms are old and outdated, and the internet was slow. I’ll be returning to a Hilton property, where they know how to properly treat their foreign guests and don’t steal .
Establishment, don’t bother and post after me, stating you charged correctly- when someone shows you proof, of residing outside of Colombia, do the right thing and abide by the Colombian regulations. I’m a frequent visitor of Colombia, and even the small boutique hotels follow the rules. Also, to ALL the folks reading this review, search and READ prior google reviews, and you’ll find other people just like me, with the same complaint of sheer blatant THIEVERY on the IVA tax with this establishment , therefore it’s not an accident. You have...
Read moreThe Andino was as nice as you would expect from an NH property in a big city. Ample room, nice shower, and extraordinary buffet (6 of everything - juices, breads, yogurt, fruits, as well as scrambled eggs with ham cooked right). But the reason to bother to write is how they went above and beyond for us. We stayed there 2 nights, then spent a day and a night and a day nature (mostly bird driven, but taking time for the magnificent scenery and special flora) watching in Chingaza National Nature preserve, where we walked all day at altitude up to 12,150 feet. That night we slept in a nice cabin that at the time had no power (neither heat nor light - they're working on it) at all 9000 feet. We were obviously bedraggled when we returned to the hotel to retrieve our bags before going to the airport at the end of our trip, wondering where we could shower and repack. Without our asking, they offered (gratis) their gym and its nice shower and changing room. I guess it must have been obvious how much we needed it. Meanwhile they arranged a car to the airport. All the stress remaining in the trip melted away. A loyalty...
