Hotel Plazuela de San Agustín — Hotel in Boyacá

This review concerns the restaurant only, as we have not stayed at the hotel. We decided to go despite lackluster reviews. We'd already been to their restaurant once before, 3 years earlier, and we had a positive experience the first time. The place is beautiful, candlelit, cozy and inviting and it has so much potential but clearly, the current management is not interested in living up to that potential, shame! The food wasn't badf but the service is disinterested. We ordered some starters and two main courses. The starters were ok, but nothing special. For the main course, we ordered a specific side of potatoes that were on the menu (not french fries). The dishes arrived with french fries and only when I asked why did they say; 'oh, we don't have those'. The lomo, which we ordered medium rare came very well done and dry and hard. My husband pointed out that this was not how we ordered it and sent it back and asked for a new one. The waitress came back 2 minutes later saying "no, the chef says this is medium rare"! And also, if you want another one, it will take about 30 mintes as we are very busy! Now, we were one of only 3 tables in the whole restaurant, so if that's busy, I don't know how they'd handle it is they were full. But, given the reviews they get, I assume that doesn't happen all that often! (In fairness, they did not charge us for the meat, but still!)||We declined the 30-minute replacement meal, finished what we did get and then ordered dessert, to which the waitress responded: "Oh, we don't have dessert!"||OMG!! This place does not take either themselves or their customers seriously, clearly!||At the end of the meal, we were the only customers left and it seemed the staff couldn't get rid of us quickly enough. The waitresses and the kitchen staff left right away, some of them before us, leaving only one poor guy behind to take care of the cleanup. ||This could be an amazing restaurant, but clearly some changes need to be made in the kitchen, service staff...

This was our favorite hotel during our 3-week Colombian trip, and by far the most romantic. In the gorgeous historic town of Villa de Leyva, it is located next to the beautiful (and car-free) Calle de Calliente which leads to one of the most famous squares of Colombia, Plaza Mayor.|The hotel itself has a beautiful romantic style and vibe to it. It's design, done by the owner and including a small classic library, is a feast for the eyes. The same can be said of all the greens and flowers in the patio, located in the middle of the hotel. |We stayed in suite 11, which was spacious and with beautiful natural light. Every day after cleaning we found a nice treat like chocolates from one of the local shops, which added to the experience, just like the nice complementary breakfast in the garden. |I can't recommend this hotel enough for people who like to experience the beauty and hospitality of Colombia in the best...
