Amateur experience...
My wife and I decided to give this place a chance from all the amazing reviews. 4.9 wow! You hardly see many restaurants with that score.
We should have followed our instinct which was to leave as soon as we sat down. The place smelled of paint. The decor was very bland. We were sat in the annex area because the main room was full. But we thought, this place has 4.9 score, the food must be amazing!
Indeed, the effort made by the young lady who owns the place is noteworthy. We almost feel a slight sympathy towards her. I can respect a husband and wife team making their dreams come true. It's a nice story, and for that reason I am willing to overlook a lot of things.
The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. If you don't like patacones, then this place isn't for you because the base of every single dish is a fried patacone. And the portions feel as though the place is trying to save money.
Anyway, I have a soft spot in my heart. I wasn't pleased with the place, but because of the personal story of the husband and wife building their own restaurant and building this project together, I'm willing to give this 5 stars.
When it came time to pay, my wife presented our credit card and we received a dry, "No." As though, credit cards weren't something readily accepted everywhere... "cash only," she said. Her suggestion then was that we go somewhere at 10pm to withdraw cash because we were short about $4. At this point it became very apparent for me. I allowed my sympathy for this person effect my judgment. In truth, this restaurant is run in a very amateur fashion. For a restaurant to make me have to go somewhere at 10pm to withdraw cash, I'm sorry I'm willing to overlook the paint smell, the patacone "concept", the poor decor, and the eventual slow service at the end. But at that point its too much.
Next time I advise simply put a sign very clearly, cash only. And you may still have...

Read moreIt was one of our favorite meals during our travels! We ordered a traditional platter of meat, different sausages, potatoes and patacone chips. The meal was delicious, exciting as well as a generous portion. Although we loved the food during our travels, we grew a bit tired of always being served rice when we ordered anything that was traditional, so this was a great experience - both authentic and delicious. We were both stuffed afterwards. The owner is friendly and gave us great recommendations for the rest of our travels around Colombia. Recommend this place!...
