It doesn‘t get any better! This beautiful and calm hotel/ hostel (they have two dorms as well) is by far Palomino‘s greatest jewel! Perfectly located near the town‘s main street (10 min by foot) and the beach (10 min as well), the property is designed like paradise (or at least how I imagine paradise). Beautiful palm trees and other tropical plants cover grounds and surround the main building as well as further apartment buildings. It is a small hotel, has a nice and clean pool, friendly staff and minimalistically designed rooms. The food is +++ and solely vegetarian. They serve the best brownie I‘ve tasted during my four weeks in the country and make everyone feel super comfortable. Receptionists speak perfect English (rare find in Colombia), offer various activities in the environment and help you book massages or yoga classes. We had the best three days here and wish we could have stayed longer; hadn‘t they not been booked out! Superior experience deserves superior recognition! Thanks to the staff for making us forget any sort of problems our spoiled life may be...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay at Casa del Pavo Real in Palomino, located only about 5 minutes walking to the beach but in a peaceful, quiet setting. The room that I stayed in was one of the suites with a private pool. The room itself was spacious but could have benefitted from a chair or lounge area inside as outside (in the more secluded area of these suites) there was a lot of debris from trees that would fall throughout the day on the lounge chairs or into the pool. But this was a relatively minor issue given how pleasant everything was.
I also really thought the staff was so welcoming and pleasant, helping to arrange a last minute tour to the local cocoa farm (highly recommend!) or coordinate meals throughout the day. The vegetarian food they reserved was really tasty as well but you can also walk to La Ola if you're craving seafood and a beer by the ocean.
I admire the hotel's commitment to sustainability and think it's great they offer the more spacious accommodations like mine but also have many budget friendly options if you're searching for a more adventurous...
Read moreHello,
We absolutely did not enjoy our stay.
And this is why:
First, In the picture galery Pavo is insinuating that you can see the beach. This is not true, this is a picture of Ola’s place. This was absolutely disappointing.
Second, they could have mentioned the construction workers at 06.00 in the morning till the evening!!!! We left the hotel the whole day because of this.
Third, there were flies everywhere. We haven’t seen one in the rest of palomino or the rest of Colombia, but at Pavo flies everywhere. Maybe clean tables instead of letting the plates stand for hours.
Fourth, some of the staff don’t know how to smile. They should give a warm feeling to a guest. (Ok, not everyone. The male waiter was very friendly)
Fifth, not enough beds at the swimming pool, for this price you may expect that you can lie at the swimming pool.
Sixth, no warm water in the shower. For this price you may expect warm water in my opinion.
Overpriced and overrated if you ask us.
So no, we didn’t really enjoyed our stay in Pavo...
