DO NOT STAY HERE
Nothing was good about this place.
If you don’t want to get sick from the overwhelming mold — stay far away from this place! We traveled as a group of four to Colombia for what was supposed to be an unforgettable vacation. Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel left us with nothing but frustration and disappointment.
Let’s start with the mold. The smell in both rooms was unbearable. The staff tried to cover it up before our arrival by scrubbing the walls with strong-smelling chemicals that reeked of bleach. It didn’t help much — within minutes, the stench of mold overpowered everything. The air conditioning units were just as bad, emitting both a strong moldy odor and an incredibly loud noise.
The rooms looked nothing like the photos online — barely even 10% accurate. They were not properly cleaned, the furniture was chipped and worn, the smell was awful, and worst of all, there were no windows! One of the rooms had a door that simply wouldn’t close. We waited over two hours for someone to come fix it, and the "repair" involved ripping out parts of the doorframe and forcefully kicking the door into place. I wouldn’t have felt comfortable leaving any of my belongings in that room.
We tried to cancel the reservation within 10 minutes of arriving, as it was immediately clear the conditions were unacceptable and not as advertised. However, the manager refused, and Booking.com said their hands were tied — so we ended up wasting our time, money, and peace of mind.
We ultimately had to book a different place to stay, as we were genuinely concerned for our health and didn’t want to risk getting sick from breathing...
Read moreHotel Poma Rosa is a fantastic spot to use when you are planning your trip to Medellin.
It is in the Laureles neighborhood in Medellin, and in a quiet area so you still have access to plenty of activities within walking distance or a very quick uber, but not at the expense of your sleep schedule.
Jennifer, Eduard and Deicy were extremely friendly, helpful and more than happy to help me practice my spanish numerous times daily, which goes a long way when you are trying to immerse yourself into the culture. The cleaning staff and the other staff who I didn't interact with quite as much are also extremely friendly and welcoming.
There is breakfast and a fridge full of beverages, along with a snack cabinet behind the front desk. For a 3 star hotel, you're not going to get a better bang for your buck than here, with ACs in certain rooms, you will be able to retain comfort while you travel and...
