Café Terrario — Restaurant in Medellín

EDIT: The service took feedback seriously and has improved a lot. Highly recommend this place - I come to this cafe quite often and waited a bit before leaving my review. The location is very nice and there’s lovely seating outside, coffee is good, pastries and food is OK but there are sometimes items missing on the menu.

They have chemex and v60 which is always a big plus.

The reason for such low rating (3stars) is the fact that the service has quite a lot to improve as it isn’t very consistent.

The male waiter is great, very kind and very professional every time I go there. However the behaviour of female waitresses lacks professionalism and should be improved immediately.

I visit this place at least once a week and noticed that female waitresses sometimes come across as quite rude and unhelpful, ignoring me and other customers and deciding to instead sit at the “best” outside table to gossip etc. it’s understandable during their lunch break but it happens during the working time - they seem to not be interested in their work and instead choose to talk to one another, sing loudly and act as if there were in a private place, rather than a workplace. Paired with their lack of enthusiasm for the job and sometimes a tone that is abrassive, it makes the otherwise enjoyable experience quite unpleasant.

It’s strange to see especially because the owner seems to spend quite a lot of time in the cafe, too, and I’m surprised to see this behaviour allowed. My advice to staff is to start behaving more professionally, attending customers with a smile and a kind attitude, otherwise you’ll keep losing customers. The only male waiter there is the person that is still making it worth it for me to visit this place once in a while and he deserves credit for making the experience at Cafe...

This isn’t a place for foreigners or Americans, simply because the ladies at the customer service in this cafe do not welcome foreigners, in particular, the Americans, and won’t let you have a good experience. You are greeted with anger and demise, whereas the locals are regularly greeted with a smile and list of options on the menu. Also, I ordered a cappuccino, they brought me dark coffee with some foamy milk on top that tasted horrible. Since I was treated so poorly at the beginning and the way I’m used to not returning food or drinks at a cafe in US, I drank the coffee but at the time of paying the bill, I asked them to charge me for a black coffee and not what I had originally ordered. Low be behold, the manager argued with me and was so rude telling me why I didn’t return it when I realized that it’s a black coffee and not a cappuccino! How could you expect me to be treated well and politely to return the black coffee when I was treated like a unwelcome foreigner at the time of placing the order? anyways… I was supposed to pay and the credit card declined because I hadn’t paid the bank yet, it took me thirty seconds to log in and transfer a few hundred dollars between accounts to pay the bill, and this manager at the cafe was about to start yelling at me as if I can’t afford or something. By the way, the photo I have posted is not the manager, but she is a regular employee and is always rude to me in this place. I won’t go again and will ask my buddies to not go either. Thanks...

STAY AWAY from this coffee shop at all costs. The CUSTOMER SERVICE here is absolutely dreadful. My experience was unpleasant in every possible way. The owner of this establishment displayed incredibly rude behavior, and his treatment of women and tourists was particularly appalling.

During my visit, this owner showed a complete lack of respect towards women, and I witnessed him treating other female patrons in a disrespectful manner as well. It is unacceptable that in this day and age, there are still individuals who behave in such a manner.

Furthermore, as a tourist, I expected to enjoy local hospitality, but instead, I was met with shouting and mistreatment. The owner not only directed his rudeness at me but also made derogatory comments about the tourists present, creating a hostile and unpleasant atmosphere in the cafe.

In summary, my experience at this cafe was entirely negative due to the TERRIBLE attitude of the owner and the AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I cannot emphasize enough that it is best to steer clear of this place and seek out a coffee shop where you will be treated with respect...
