I recently stayed at a hotel in Poblanda that left me with mixed feelings. There were aspects I really appreciated, but also a few issues that need improvement.
Let's start with the positives: the hotel offers great value for money. The rates were reasonable, and the location was fantastic, right next to Poblanda where all the vibrant bars and restaurants are located. It made it incredibly convenient to explore the lively nightlife and indulge in the local cuisine without having to venture far from the hotel.
Check-in was strictly adhered to at 3 pm, and while it may have seemed a bit inflexible, I understand the need for maintaining order and ensuring that rooms are ready for guests. Fortunately, the friendly staff at the reception helped make the process smooth and efficient, so the wait wasn't too bothersome.
One standout feature of the hotel was the generous 1 pm check-out time. This was a refreshing change, as it allowed us to enjoy a relaxed morning without feeling rushed to leave the room early. It's a thoughtful touch that adds value to the overall experience.
Also- there’s a very nice rooftop with amazing views of the city. A rooftop pool and a small gym with AC.
Now, onto the areas that require improvement. The most significant issue we encountered was with the bathroom sink - it simply didn't drain properly. This created some inconvenience during our stay, as we had to be mindful of the water level while using the sink.
Another inconvenience was the slow elevator. With only one elevator serving the entire hotel, it could be frustrating to wait for extended periods, especially during peak hours when many guests were using it simultaneously.
Despite these shortcomings, I must commend the staff for their politeness and willingness to assist whenever possible. They were always ready to answer questions and provide recommendations for places to visit...
Read moreOur biggest issue with this hotel is the completely unacceptable guest policy. If you want to bring a guest to your 'apartment' after 7pm, you need to fork out 150k pesos, or roughly 60% of the cost of one night here. That is payable even if you would like the guest to come to your room for 15 minutes! So if you have friends in Medellin that you would like to invite to visit you, definitely look elsewhere.
Second issue occurred when we made two back to back bookings. We had to extend our trip by 2 days, so we made an additional booking for the extra 2 days. Due to availability of rooms, we ended up booking two different room types for the two bookings. We emailed the hotel asking to make sure we have the same room for the whole stay, saying we had no problem paying extra for the bigger room if required. Upon checkin, realised we were assigned a smaller room for the whole 4 night stay. No bigger rooms available, so we still had to change rooms halfway through. No apology, no attempt to rectify, nothing.
Finally the staff are mostly unfriendly and unhelpful. Especially so the morning reception staff (with the male receptionists being particularly horrible). Evening reception staff were friendlier but the nighttime security guard makes you feel like a criminal when you walk in and out. Staff working here mostly seem unhappy, unfriendly and not suitable for customer facing roles.
When we checked out, we weren't asked whether we enjoyed our stay or whether we had any problems. Don't expect any pleasantries from the staff here!
Overall the rooms were large but starting to show some wear and tear. The apartment concept is great, but the kitchen is not fully equipped - what's the point of having it! Breakfast room overcrowded and the pool and gym areas are a bit...
Read moreIn a beautiful green area of the city. Good location to the area of cafes and restaurants (about 8 min walk). Staff very friendly, professional, and helpful. They also speak English which is helpful because my Spanish is basic. When my husband got sick Juan Carlos, front desk, translated to the cooks to make food specially for him.||The room was massive and clean. Lots of pillows and even more in the closet to choose from. The kitchen was great to have, but it only had 2 cups, 2 plates, 2 knives, 2 forks and 2 spoons. No pot or pan to use on the stove...thought that was odd. No kitchen towel/cloth to wash/dry dishes. Does have a microwave which could be useful. Enough space in the fridge for you to put a few things into.||A couple of small things could improve the room: a full length mirror (room was huge with lots of wall space), an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, a make up mirror in the bathroom.||The bathroom is a good size and was very clean. Only negative: the water temperature control in the bathroom is awful, it's either cold or very hot, and randomly changes without intervention, and moving the handle just ever so slightly will not get you a temperature you want, cool or hot, those are the choices.||Pool/Jacuzzi area is great, gets lots of sun. It's a very shallow pool so the temperature of the water can get warm, but I still liked it. It was clean and they have nice pool towels & sun beds. The pool area also has a covered area you can relax on nice couches and chairs, can even get room service up there if you want.||Other positives: great wifi, quiet area (not on Saturday night if people across the street are partying/watching soccer, hahaha)||Overall, a fantastic &...
