Hostel sits in a residential neighborhood so it's quiet and a bit secluded. Easy walk to the metro station but not too close to the nightlife. The hostel is clean, provides lots of information for paid tours but that's about it. I felt like we were just staying at a hotel. There wasn't much of a social atmosphere when we were there even though we saw many travelers in and out of the hostel. Most of the staff here including the owner, were nice and helpful but there was one specific staff who seemed more focused on hanging out with his friends up in the rooftop patio than helping the guests.
Our private room with ensuite bathroom was spacious, we actually had an extra twin bed in our room. The shower head could be better but at least there was hot water. The weather was pretty warm when we visited, but unfortunately, there are no ACs in the rooms, we just had a ceiling fan (that look like it was about to fall off) and a standing room fan. We mostly just kept the window open to let fresh air in.
There are common areas but no one really hung out there so we were out and about hanging out at friend's hostels most of the time. So this place was pretty much just a place to sleep. Clean, safe, and simple.
They did arrange for a driver to take us to the airport when we checked out and I have to say, I've never been so fearful in my life sitting in the back of a car. He was driving so fast, weaving in and out of lanes, on the windy mountain roads...IN THE RAIN! I swear I was thought this was it! LOL this isn't the hostel's fault but they should really screen the drivers they hire for...

The accommodations are basic but it's everything you need especially since he probably won't be spending much time in your room. The hostel has occupancy for about 100 people and you will meet plenty of people to hang out with and make new friends. Every night there's something going on, most commonly people head over to Happy Buddah hostel to socialize with people there because they have a bar.
The rooms are comfortable and they have all the basic necessities. I stayed in a private room so this review is with respect to that. The shared bathrooms are the comparable the ones in the private rooms.
I'm not sure what it is but this place is very popular among Germans, Aussies, and Kiwis. I met people here from Hong Kong and the United States as well. It's a good diverse group.
The building is a red brick building with a white gate at the entrance. Right next door is another "artsy" hostel that looks the same but with a different name. It's not labeled so it might be confusing to find, which is why I added a description here.
When you use Uber, they tend to pick you up about three buildings down the road for some reason... Make sure you drop the pin on your location correctly so that this can get fixed permanently for all users.
If you walk out of the building and take a left and another left you will find a restaurant on the street that open very late... They serve fresh juice drinks which I...
Read moreWe loved our time at Black Sheep. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious, clean and with comfy beds and the bathrooms were clean with decent showers. The communal areas definitely made our stay - it’s such a social hostel that we spent most of our time on the table out the front (either evening drinks before heading out or once we got back from the club) and we also took advantage of the TV room one long hungover day and watched films with the other guests while eating McDonalds. It really felt like a second home despite us only staying 4 nights! We went on the Guatape tour and Graffiti tours that were planned through the hostel and loved both of them - granted we probably could have done these at a lower cost elsewhere but the convenience of being picked up from the hostel and ease of not having the shop around was worth it. I definitely recommend both of them! Just a heads up only small lockers are available and there’s no locks on the shared room dorms so be sure to lock valuables away (not that we had any problems). Great location with the nearby supermarket, Metro station and Mercado del Rio. I’ll definitely be stopping by if I return...
