Having had a distinctly mediocre meal on our first night in Matapalo, we discovered La Junta in Domincal on our second night, and didn't look back! We both liked the sound of the burgers but, unfortunately, they weren't available that night so I had the pulled pork tacos and my wife had the Yardbird chicken sandwich, which she said was delicious. The flavours of my tacos were fantastic and the accompanying fries were amazing. We also happened to be there on the open mic night, so enjoyed some great live music too. Having been denied our desired burgers, whilst being wowed by our subsequent choices, we went back the following night and both had the Domi-nator burgers, which were substantial and absolutely delicious, as anticipated. With one remaining day in Matapalo, we quickly decided to take our final opportunity to enjoy the delights of La Junta, so went back there for lunch, when I had another Domi-nator and my wife had the Yardbird again, this time with a salad. She normally gets full quite easily, but apparently the salad was so good and the sandwich was just as delicious second time round (as was my burger) that she ate every morsel. She also ordered a Pina Colada, which she reported was up to the same standard as the food. The review probably sounds overblown with hyperbole, but the food really was that amazing, the staff were so friendly too and the location was great, so we'd keep going back if we were staying longer. The only negative I can mention is the fact that this gem of a restaurant is thousands of miles from...
Read morePlease like and follow. We stopped by this restaurant only based on the high rating. Let start with the locals of the bar restaurant. It is underground next to the parking lot. The decore is beyond minimal, works well doe teenager and young hobos less than 20 years old. When we got there, the rude waiters were trying to heckel us because we sat on the long available table. She wanted to keep it for a big group when the restaurant was empty and there were other available ones . Pass this little issue we ordered a ceviche and a fish sandwich and fish tacos along g side a lemonade and a coke zero. The ceviche had lots of small pieces of tuna, star fruits, some pineapple juice, and vegetables. It tasted good and delicious, the fried pittas were also seasoned, and tasty. But the good food stopped here. The fish burger was overcooked, and like a rubber uneadible, it needed some condoment to cover the black pepper seasoning. The tacos looked impressive, and lots of coleslaw and coupel of grape tomatoes and some juices. Like the sandwich, when you bite in it, you will be overcome with the black pepper seasoning and the absence of an acid like lemon. Basically, it is tasteless and dry. Thanks heaven for the fried potato's they were the only good food on the plates We barely ate half of our food, then paid our bills d left. Comparing them to the pizza place, a few meters away from them. The pizza place when every time I do not recommend this place fir this looking for a descent meal with...

Update- We ate at La Juntas, 2 more nights after our serendipitous meeting! The first night we showed up just before a large group that had made reservations, but they made room for us and got our food out quickly enough for us to enjoy our meal before the larger group showed up. The 2nd time we made sure to make reservations and enjoyed EVERYTHING we ate! We tried as Much as we could! The fish tacos were still my favorite there, but I enjoyed the Bulgogi beef sandwich, the Tai BBQ was spicier then expected but very tasty, the smashed plantain appetizer, the tuna ceviche was a great twist and my 13 year old son had the Tropical Fish sandwich all 3 times!! The cocktails were delicious and so were the smoothies and juices! I was so excited to eat I forgot to take more pictures 😄 sorry
We plan to be back on our next trip! Thank you La Junta for always accommodating my big, loud,...
