We had a four night stay in Uvita at this hotel. Katrina and her family run the place and they were kind enough to do us a package deal as we booked the whale watching tour at the time of booking the room. Breakfast was included within the price and was tasty and plentiful! There was a small pool available all day for the guests which was kept very clean. The room included a small fridge which was very helpful for keeping snacks and drinks in and also had air con which was great. The only small downside with the room was that the shower didn't seem to ever have hot water, but then sometimes in the heat, a cold shower is what you need! The location was great, close to the amenities of Uvita and also in close proximity to Bahia Ballena national park. ||The whale tour organised by the hotel was wonderful. We were so lucky to see a mother and baby humpback whale, many dolphins, a small turtle, and many birds. We also had a tour of the sights such as the whale's tail, a natural rock formation, whale island, whale's rock, and some of the caves and beaches along the nearby coast. We even got to swim way out in the Pacific Ocean, not far off of Whale's Island. Dean, our guide, was really informative about all of the wildlife and scenery and our captain did a great job of locating and tracking all of the animals! They even provided water and fruit on the...
Read moreI came into Uvita with a 3- day reservation at a local hostel. But I arrived so exhausted and pretty much sick from heat stroke that I needed a place with air conditioning to test and get my body temperature down. The kind folks at the hostel drove me around looking for decent, comfortable and affordable accommodation. This place was by far the best I saw and I took it immediately upon arrival. $40 for a large simple room with three beds, air conditioning, fridge, cable TV, a sparkling small pool with great outdoor showers, and breakfast included. |The girls who clean the place and run reception, although they don't go out of their way to ask if you need anything, were very nice when you approach them with questions.|Only 4 stars instead of 5 because no hot water at all for the whole 4 days I was there, and I wasn't told that until I discovered it myself naked in the shower. ||Also the mattresses aren't the best- I could feel the springs popping out a little on mine but saved my comfort by putting my thin camping foam on top of the bed. ||Everything was clean and tidy too.||You actually get a lot of comfort for...
Read moreHad been in Uvita for couple of days and was looking for affordable place to spend last night. The hotel is owned and operated by Kathia and her family. She is very nice and accommodating. The hotel is on property with the family's home and open-air cafe. There is a sparkling pool. Breakfast is included with cost of room and was very good. Kathia even helped me print my flight boarding passes on their home computer. It is off highway in Uvita and there is not an ocean view, although the ocean is not far, maybe a mile. If you are looking for affordable, clean place to stay, in close proximity to ocean, this is a place to consider. Also, if you are looking for an authentic Costa Rican experience, is this definitely a place to stay. Would recommend and would stay...
